ILLINOIS STATE UNIVERISITY: KICK-OFF
The Black Student Union (BSU) of Illinois State University, cordially invites you to participate in our annual KICK-OFF QUAD JAM.
The Kick-Off celebration has been an annual event of BSU since its' founding in 1970. It is an opportunity for ethnic organizations to unite at the beginning of the year in order to create an enthusiastic and exciing atmosphere for the new academic year. As part of the tradition, Registered Student Organizations, our neighboring schools, along with individual acts perform and support the event. The festivities include music, entertainment, food, and student group participation.
This year, Kick-Off will take place on September 8, 2001 at 10am untill 4pm . Kick-Off is supported by a variey of vendors, entrepreneurs, and local orgnizations that display their products or services on the Quad. Following the Quad Jam, will be a comedy show featuring famous comedians from the acclaimed Black Comedy Tour. Following the Comedy Show, will be a the Kick-Off Party. The party will be held at the Bone Studen Center's Ballroom from 11:30pm until 3:00am. Considering the extremely high turnout of previous years, attending this event will be well worth your time and effort!
We feel that Black Greek Lettered Organizations are vital to the success of this event! We welcome your organization to perform on the sage in our "Quad Style Showdown". This year, we will offer $500.00 prize to the best step team. Each competing team will be responsible for submitting the required registration fee of $25.00 (per team).
If your chapter step team is interested in paricipating in the Quad Jam, please let us know by email at BlackStudentUnion1@hotmail.com. The deadline for registration is August 27, 2001 After your team has registered, we will contact you via email with further details regarding set up and your performance. If your team does not want to compete for the prize money, you are MORE that wlcome to perform on the stage and represent your organization. If you prefer this option, please understand that you are not eligible for the prize money.
