"Fortunate Son"
Actually the "Fortunate Son" ads are for Wrangler. ZTAngel is absolutely correct in saying that it was the wrong song to use to personify an American image. I saw a documentary on the Kent State shootings where this song was part of the soundtrack, and it really hammers home what the song is actually about. The same thing happened when Reagan tried to use "Born in the USA" as a campaign song - it's about disenfranchised Vietnam veterans, not the joys of being American.
Oh and MoxieGrrl, I am glad to hear someone else experienced the Gloria Horn commercial. The first time I saw it I thought either someone had put something "wacky" in my last drink that was just kicking in, or we were going through the Apocalypse.

I hate the Cetaphil commercial that says something about how women are its best advertisement. It's kind of lame to begin with and it seems so long. It's face soap. Damn. And any commercial for anything that gets put pisses me off. I don't wanna think about it when I'm watching tv (esp. if I'm also eating) I hate hearing things like that w/ guys in the room and I am sure whenever I have kids I'll hate it when they ask "Mommy, what's that for??" What are they afraid that if they stop advertising that shit that we'll stop using tampons? Fraid not.

No, it hasn't been pulled, at least in the Northeast US. I just saw it a couple of days ago.

OMG between the Peter Francis Geraci posts and the Empire Carpet commercials, I've been sitting here absolutely hysterical.
I think Chicago needs its own thread for horrible commercials.
Chicago people: if you've seen P.F.G you've probably seen Eagle insurance....
"Do you have insurance on this car??"
"No"= "It must be eagle man!!!!!!" and then that ridiculous eagle like falls out of the sky and attacks their car?????
It's on like 50 times a day on WGN....for the rest of the day I'm like, "Look at those low rates"

The Clorox commercials with the "Momma's got the magic of Clorox bleach" jingle. Why the hell can't a man do laundry?!
I hate the Wrangler ads with "Fortunate Son". Coming from a family of Vietnam Vets, we don't take kindly to people taking protest songs to sell jeans. Any time someone uses one of those songs inappropriately, I add them to my list of things never to buy. We never gave our Vietnam Veterans much. Let them keep their music and their dignity.

I really dislike the Art Van Furniture commercials where the guy says, "...What we won't do is give you a deal on a ficus plant, because we don't sell ficus plants; but if we did, they'd be brand name ficus plants!" Argh!

I think this is a local commercial but here goes...
There's a commercial that airs late at night, there's two like 300 pound women riding on a magic carpet above The Arch, advertising their carpet outlet. The commercial is so fake too. WTF?

Here's something just for you, AXJules:
I was going to post Eagle Insurance, but you beat me to it! I'm not sure which one I like more - the first one with the two 80s bimbos in the car, or the one with the moustached lady holding the two eggs. Then there's the one with Mancow...

I have a tendency to swear and/or throw things at my tv whenever I see something stupid. This happens ALOT....
I threw a plastic spoon last night after watching a commercial that continues to haunt me with it stupid concept. Please tell me somebody has seen this one....
It's for the FloorMate floor cleaner.
This woman is in her kitchen and all of a sudden, this freaking kangaroo comes in and makes her tiled floor all dirty.
Then you see this Australian guy with something on his back come from wherever the hell he comes from and goes into the kitchen, and as the audience assumes he is there to capture the kangaroo, says to the woman, "I can clean that Floor...Mate!" Then he whips out his FloorMate floor cleaner and gets rid of the kangaroos mess.
Then once the floor is cleaned, the woman, Australian dude, and the kangaroo are all standing in the kitchen with peachy keen smiles.
All that stupidity for one obvious line of a play on words.
Ohhhhhhhh, if I had a plastic spoon right now....

OMG, I shouldn't be reading this at work because I am ROFLMAO @ Eagle Man!!! Hahaha!
I have to make mention of how annoying RADIO ads can be. WTF is up with that McDonald's ad that is a spoof of a really annoying musical -- where the food items are singing? I have never wanted a hamburger or yogurt cup to start singing! I have to turn it off if I ever hear it -- I don't even think I've heard the whole thing.

They even showed that terrible marijuana "public service ad" along with the trailers of upcoming movies the other day when I went to see Catch Me If You Can. I wanted to throw my popcorn at the screen.
