UGa has forged check for $2445
UGA fraternity reports forgery
A member of the Phi Kappa Psi fraternity told Athens-Clarke police Tuesday that a former officer of the organization forged two checks on Phi Kappa Psi's account, including one for $2,445.
The forgeries were made between Aug. 9 and Sept. 3 on the fraternity's SunTrust bank account, the complainant said.
When police spoke with the suspect, he claimed the $2,445 check was written to reimburse his parents for a loan they had made for renovations at the fraternity house, located at 398 S. Milledge Ave.
The complainant told police that wasn't the case, and said the suspect didn't have authority to write any checks off the account.
No arrests were made at the time of the report, but the complainant indicated he would press charges.
