100%. I saw how awesome the greek community was when Aphi came this past year and the entire community did "bid day" with the founding members.

Thank you for sharing that information. What a wonderful welcoming gesture to Alpha Phi.

I'm surprised they'll be allowed to film NPC rush. I remember MTV's Sorority Life had to film non-NPC sororities because the NPC sororities said no. Times have changed! (Also, I can't believe that show aired OVER TWENTY YEARS AGO! I feel old.)

Oh boy! Read here and be sure to watch the trailer: https://people.com/a-sorority-moms-g...usive-11778707
Also, I noted this comment in the article: "The show will also feature content creator “Bama Morgan,” who went viral on TikTok for sharing her recruitment experience during her freshman year at the University of Alabama. The series will follow Morgan as she attempts her second chance at a bid."
Sooooooo.....Morgan *did* have a tv reality crew documenting her rush at Bama last year? <face palm>

Wait, knowing that, no wonder she got dropped! (yes I'm aware she did not take a SK bid.) but my god.

Well, I just went over to her TikTok and she's got a video posted confirming that she was included in the TV show. She actually says, "I may not have gotten the bid, but I got the last shot."
Here: https://www.tiktok.com/@on_thedaily_...31648188960014
While on her page, I found out that someone at Bama had allegedly let the cat out of the bag that she had a poor GPA of 2.7, which played a major role in her rush results. Since that information was now public, she posted a defensive video confirming her GPA was 2.7 and tried to justify her Cs and Bs. She even made a snarky comment that the sororities "threw her GPA in her face". Really?? A 2.7 GPA doesn't cut it at Bama....or even most schools.

That's one of the things that seems to get missed when people are watching these big SEC rushes. The girls for sure are wearing expensive, designer stuff, have high social media influence, pageant queens, they prepped all year, etc etc etc......but they *also* have to have academic achievement. Even with all the glam, you still need to have scholarship.
And, yes, I faintly recall that she had received a bid from SK, but turned it down. She also claims that she received "bids" from Sigma Delta Tau and Alpha Delta Chi (Christian sorority), but those were just invitations to attend COB, not "bids". (good grief)

Listening to some of these moms, I already know that their daughters will tank in SEC rush.

I had also heard she was a transfer (and again nothing wrong with that, I joined as a transfer) but her GPA in that sense was much lower than chapter set GPA. And considering it's Bama, I know the GPA to join many houses was much higher than national standard.

Also, I don't think the broader public knows how much it takes to rush at these massive schools. You don't just need "beauty" (again hog wash) you need to treat it like an actual college transcript. You need the really good GPA AND you need the involvement wherever that falls, whether it be the AP king or the cheer captain.
Sorry to rant, as someone who witnessed her first rush on the volunteer, end it's so much more than just looking cute or gaining some social media followers.

I'm ashamed to admit that I watched that show.
IIRC, when MTV floated the idea, every NPC sorority informed their chapters that their charter would be revoked if they participated.
Things seem to have worked out well for Sigma Alpha Epsilon Pi (season 1) as they have several active chapters now.
Of course, MTV was selective in its editing - as I vaguely recall, there was a PNM chatting on her cell phone during a party, a "sober sister" pledge who wasn't sober, and a new member who got drunk and walked straight into a closed glass sliding door.

Veering nicely off topic, but seasons 1 and 2 of the original Sorority Life MTV show are available online now. What a throwback! I remember watching them in, like, 2002, and rushing off to the Taildaters or whatever MTV board people were using to discuss the show.
Good times
I’m not watching this show. These people are corporate-trainer scary and not interesting at all. Mister Pageant Guy and Brandis-However Many Extra Letters.

Okay but as trashy as those shows were I love them a ton. Those at least were more "follow with the camera see where it goes" but Lifetime is a bit much. And funny enough SAEPi would go national, and the chapter is still active to this day.
Off topic: I rewatched MTV fat camp (both editions) and wow it was something else. they're on youtube.

The SAEPi sisters were very sweet and nice- honestly, probably too nice for MTV! I felt kinda bad for them, because you know MTV totally picked their pledges (at least the ones who lived in the house).
Going to a state school on the east coast…the Buffalo sisters were definitely more my type of people! They would have fit in well with a lot of people at my school/chapter lol…
It’s so fun to see things from that time period again…all the music, hair, makeup, old school cell phones! It just takes me right back to that time.
“Rush” parties in the student union with cardboard glitter decorations are more my speed than this Lifetime stuff.

If you have a GPA of 2.7, the only rush you should be thinking about is making a rush to get yourself to some office hours. That girl is absolutely ridiculous.

Who the heck is this guy Bill Alverson, the "#1 Rush Coach in America"? He only has 16,000 followers on Tik Tok. How insulting to all Sorority Women that some dude thinks he knows more about Rush than we women do, or that Lifetime would hire him in that capacity!
