Dual Enrollment/AP/IB credits

I have a general question about how sororities are assigning a woman's class when it's her first year on campus but she has enough credits to be a sophomore or junior because of AP/IB or dual enrollment credits? Anybody know how this is managed?

They're still considered first-years or freshmen.

Not at all colleges where I've taught. The sororities mostly didn't look to see HOW you got the credits, they just saw that you were a sophomore. The only time that DE/AP/IB came up was when someone was really pitching a certain girl and she would bring up that this girl was brilliant, she had taken all those courses, and shouldn't be considered a real sophomore.

It really depends on when the person can graduate, some of the AP credits might not count toward the desired degree.

Usually with the dual enrollment, they have an associates degree when they graduate high school. I did know it affects their ability to get the full tuition scholarships for incoming freshman.

It can depends on degree or "bypassing" gen eds via your AP/IB/Dual credits. My brother was able to graduate a semester early due to that.

They are still considered first-year students, but I know firsthand that it may hinder being offered a bid depending where they attend uni. Some will view the status of the student from what the university provides them; and it may show the student as a sophomore, junior or even senior depending on how many credits they bring with them.
