Non-Collegiate GLO council?

Does anyone know if a council or umbrella organization exists for non-collegiate GLO's? I've been looking into NAGC, but the dues are a little steep for my chapter :-(

I'm just curious....if the orgs are non-collegiate, would there be a particular purpose for being on a council?

Also....can one be a member of more than one non-collegiate sorority?

The purpose of having a council would be to promote unity between the organizations on the council, to find ways to create more of an interest in our type of organizations (which would hopefully, in turn, help make rush more competitive) and to have a way of sharing ideas between organizations (among many others). It just feels like each of our type organizations is on their own, with little to no contact/unity with other groups like ours

As far as being in more than one non-collegiate sorority goes, I don't know the rules for other Non-collegiates but our constitution says that a member of Phi Beta Psi may not concurrently hold active or inactive membership in any other non-collegiate sorority, however she MAY be a member of a traditional GLO (be it NPC, NPHC, Multi-cultural or local)

If a non-collegiate GLO council doesn't already exist, maybe you could contact other non-collegiate GLO's to see if there is interest. Maybe, you could start with the tri-state or mid-atlantic or northeast region. See if other orgs would like to get together for a convention where the different orgs could meet one another and share ideas about recruitment. I think some of the local sororities sometimes have regional conventions and they might be able to give better advice on how exactly your organization would go about organizing a convention (if the idea of a regional non-collegiate GLO convention appeals to you, maybe you might even want to post a thread in the locals forum asking for details on how the locals put together their conventions). If you get enough interest from other non-collegiate GLO's in the regional convention, maybe during the convention, you can bring up the idea of having a council.

Thanks for the idea! I'm speaking with a few women I know who are either founders or officers of their respective Non-Collegiates. I'll keep you posted :-)

I know this post is old, but is there an update on it?

Could be interesting for the purpose of sharing ideas and supporting one another! I don't think Beta Sigma Phi would be on board with being regulated by a council (just speaking from my general impression), but support is a good thing! We do allow members to hold multiple memberships, collegiate or non-collegiate.

Considering that the previous post is old enough to have an unrestricted driver's license in many states, probably not.
