Congrats to your daughter and Pi Beta Phi! All of the chapters are outstanding at Iowa State, but I had some close friends in Pi Phi, and they have such a wonderful chapter facility and sisterhood. I'm glad she had a positive experience despite everything that happened this last week; it will definitely be a memorable recruitment. Good luck to her this semester!

Some of my rec girls had their bid days over the weekend. A Phi Mu, 1 Delta Delta Delta and 3 Kappa Deltas. Hope they all have a good college experience despite the very unusual semester we are about to enter.

My niece is going through recruitment at Arkansas. She’s been so impressed by all of the chapters and the zoom parties - she said it feels like she’s in the house! Bravo to them and all of their planning to make it such a good experience for these PNMs.

Is it true that a lot of chapters won't have any socials this fall? And that only live-ins can be in the house on some campuses?

Probably depends on the schools (and probably states) rules and regulations. My state has limitations on how many people can be in a room together for events. Most of colleges in my area will not be having any on campus social events this semester.

I know that some houses have a number limit as to how many people can be there and obviously priority is to those living in the house. They will probably do a lot of sign ups and schedules for out of house girls so that they can track properly if there are any issues..

Chapters better get comfortable socializing on Zoom for now. It’s not ideal, but it’s possible.

I just found out that my rec-girl went AOII at Univ of Tennessee!!!

My DD is going through recruitment at UK right now. All virtual. She’s having a great experience so far. Sisterhood round of 6 parties is Friday & Saturday, Preference on Sunday and Bid Day on Monday. Maybe the way of the future! I was a campus Greek advisor a long time ago, back when we did rush all by hand without computers. I’m relieved she’s having a good experience. Kentucky has done an excellent job overall in my opinion. I feel that kids these days communicate so much online that this situation isn’t as abnormal to them as it is to us.

I am hoping to talk to her soon. I will definately ask about the how huge the new member classes are this year! I have visited this campus and the Sorority Village is lovely, but I don't see how they could expand it.

Well, didn't get alot of info from my Rec Girl. She said that there were approx 1500 PNMs and that was the most Tennessee has had. Her suitemates are new members of AXO, DZ and Kappa!
