The Georgia Southern page says "Recommendation letters and references forms are not required to
participate in Formal Recruitment at Georgia Southern University."
Virtually EVERY university sorority or Panhellenic page says the very same thing. Understanding
exactly what is being said is crucial.
CORRECT: a girl may participate in recruitment without letters of recommendation. If rushing is all you want, no problem. But the point of rush is to get a BID and join an organization, right? That is completely different from simply rushing.
That statement says nothing at all about whether or not recommendation letters are required to get a bid. This is a common misunderstanding. I think a lot of alumnae are extremely frustrated with this misleading language. We fight it every year, but universities continue to do it.
