GPA requirement???
hi! i’m going to be a PNM my my school’s fall formal recruitment and i don’t really know where to go for questions about greek life but i found this forum... i’m an incoming second year and i had a rough first year where some personal problems happened, so my GPA wasn’t the best but i brought it up to a 2.5, and depending on my final grade for the class i’m taking right now, it could be a 2.6. will my GPA hold me back a lot?

The person to talk with is the campus Greek Adviser. As to whether your grades pass muster, s/he can give you the GPAs for all the chapters on your campus so you know how yours stack up. Be sure to get recommendations for all the groups on your campus.

Even without knowing your school, I think you're going to struggle in recruitment with that GPA. It's possible you might receive a bid, but your choices will be very limited. If your school's Greek culture is open to giving bids to all class levels, I'd wait another year to go through recruitment or at least wait to try COB (informal recruitment) next semester. Informally, you'll have an opportunity to spotlight your positive attributes in a relaxed setting.

Listen to Sorority Sock. Getting a bid with anything less than a 3.0 is nearly impossible on most campuses. Rushing as a sophomore, you really have to have at least a 3.5 GPA. To get an idea of the grades that sororities look for, check the scholastic report at your school on line. Sororities will be listed by overall GPA and by actives & pledge class. That will give you an idea of the GPA required by each chapter.

Visit your academic advising center on campus. An academic advisor can help you determine if you qualify for any grade forgiveness or course repeats that could improve your GPA.
