So... are PNMs told to wear Texas Tech t-shirts?

I was hoping to see my chapter sister/former roommate's daughter in there but didn't spot her. I can't wait to see where she ends up! (Or to catch up with her mother this weekend when she comes back with more stuff for her daughter!)

I feel sorry for these gals in this heat...it's been brutal lately here in Lubbock!

Yes, I believe that for the first round, the PNMs wear Texas Tech t-shirts.
its also interesting that the first round is split over two days ... but differently that I've seen elsewhere. Half the PNMs visit the chapters and the other half have Panhellenic programming and then the groups switch off the next day.

Here's what the Texas Tech Panhellenic web site says

Monday & Tuesday, August 19-20, 2019
Students will participate in Period I in two parts. One of the days they will attend all 12 sorority chapters on Greek Circle, and one day they will participate in on-campus programming to introduce participants to the values and standards of the Panhellenic community.

Couldn't the split days lead to some additional tent talk? Half of the PNMs visit all 12 chapters on one day and the other half does not? I imagine there would be a lot of chatter in the dorm that night about with the girls who went to the chapters telling the other half what to expect the next day and which chapters were the best, etc.

The "programming" is inside and it basically goes over the Panhellenic manual. Day one is split over two days to help with crowd control and allow long times for parties. Remember Tech has lodges and not houses, so space is an issue.

I don't believe dividing day one increases the tent talk. The heat is oppressive right now. By the end of the day these girls are exhausted. All they really want to do is shower and go to sleep.

Sooooo...there are several of you who are speaking with what seems to be personal knowledge of the current conditions in the Hub City. Could it be that there are more than one of us Lubbockians or Lubbockites here in the land of Greekchat?

Mad props to the Tech Panhellenic. They actually feed the girls each day. There seems to be a method to their madness.

The two days of round one are actually really tough on the actives. You are doing over 12-15 parties per day for two days straight and then youndonalmost the same number for philanthropy the following day. There was a master plan to allow for everyone to rebuild their lodge. As this plan nears completion, I wonder if we might see a change in the schedule as the new lodges could accomodate larger parties. However, I’m not sure if they want to change. It is nice that everyone attends the drug/alcohol/safe living talk early in the week. At A&M, they wait until pref day and make the girls go to that in the morning and then receive their pref invitations in the afternoon.

I moved from Oklahoma to Lubbock about a year and a half ago! It's been a ROUGH transition for me, going from where I grew up/went to school to a town where I know no one!!! Are others still currently in Lubbock!??!?

BTW...my sorority sister's daughter is now an extremely happy KD!
