I wish there was a way to convey the tune and rhythm. This has been an earworm for me all day! Until I figure out how to do that without a music staff, here are the words. I will say that it is in 4/4 or cut time, it starts comfortably on middle C, and the 4th line of each stanza, as well as the words in parentheses, are spoken, although melodically and in time.
It is a silly song. I can't say it was one of my favorites but we used to end serenades with it by saying and waving "goodbye" after singing the song to the serenading fraternity.
Froggie went a courtin' and he did go uh-huh, uh-huh
Froggie went a courtin' and he did go uh-huh
Froggie went a courtin' and he did go
Down to the brown bottle for the midnight show
Uh-huh, uh-huh, uh-huh.

Some GCers may recall the tune from the following, currently available for viewing on youtube:
an old Tom and Jerry cartoon features Jerry's Uncle Pecos playing a 'geetarh' and singing "Froggy went a courtin' an' he did ride, CRAMBONE!" (etc)
