This.
Not too long ago, I had dinner with two acquaintances, one Latino man and one Middle Eastern man. During the course of conversation, they made anti-black comments. I was immediately shocked and told them it was unacceptable. On my drive home, I thought about the exchange again. I felt sick in my heart and it bothered me greatly. I'm still puzzled at why men from ethnicities, which by and large are also discriminated against, would make those kinds of comments. Perhaps it's a "as long as we're not the ones on the bottom of the pile" mentality?
As for these sorority members - those comments were not "jokes" and they can't say "we were just kidding!" Mocking a guest speaker, especially for her race, is not funny. I can't even with these people.
