Michigan would have a much more difficult time. I'm surprised there isn't a lawsuit.

If they make it about housing, the school will just say “we’re sorry you’re saddled with these huge white elephants of houses. We’ll help you out and buy them from you.”

I think it’s ridiculous to force students in general to sign leases a year in advance, Greek or not.

Being 21 and not being able to have alcohol in your room is a no-go for a lot of students. Doubt the NPC budges much on that issue.

Maybe this will get them to the point that they will.

Considering the NPC's business model basically consists of pushing their liability concerns regarding alcohol off on their NIC counterparts, I doubt that'll change any time soon.

I just got back from Convention and met my current Michigan chapter sisters. I should have asked them about this. I think our house sleeps about 70 women.

Only Delta Delta Delta had a shared dormer sleeping room when I was there, so I don't think there are any dormers/cold rooms to convert.

I don't think anyone is being "forced" to sign an apartment lease early -- it's a supply and demand, lock in early situation. You can wait, but then you might get stuck with the crappier options...just like if you're the incoming freshman who waits to send in your housing deposit. You get what's left over.

It will be interesting to see if students who are planning to rush wait, on the good chance they'll get a bid and have a bed in their yet-to-be-determined chapter house.
