Recolonizing

This may be a weird question, but is there a thread for those bringing a chapter of a sorority back from being defunked? I am currently in a colony in the process of reestablishing a chapter and I wanna hear some stories from those who have gone through it.

Defunked? That is a new one on me! Are you asking about an NPC chapter or another type of group?

This is a Lambda Theta Alpha chapter (the first one formed in my state), that went defunct in 2003, but me and group of other girls are restarting it with help from the nationals. I'm hoping we can start pledging next semester!

Oh! Oh! Defunct! I get it! I was scratching my head for a few seconds.

I hope your colony is successful. I am not positive I know what you're asking for, though I'd hazard a guess that any threads about colonies in general would give you lots of good information. How exciting for you; make lots of memories. You and your fellow new members are blazing a trail. so to speak. GOOD LUCK!

I'm a founding (not rechartering) member of my chapter, which is obviously going to function differently from your organization in a lot of ways, but I think my advice will hold up regardless.

Be cautious about accepting help from alumnae from the defunct chapter. Alumnae can be great, but they can also bring back cultural issues which caused the chapter to go dormant in the first place.
