Sorority Sisters Facing Federal Court After Alleged Roommate Drama

Yikes!

http://onwardstate.com/2016/08/19/so...oommate-drama/

Quote:
Sorority sisters Molly Brownstein and Rachel Lader will share both a kitchen and a court room after roommate drama between the two escalated and caused Lader to file a lawsuit against the Brownstein family and Penn State, the Philadelphia Inquirer first reported this afternoon.

Lader is claiming in a defamation and breach-of-contract lawsuit that Brownstein’s parents used their position and influence as active donors and members of the Penn State community to insight a disciplinary investigation against Lader that led to her academic probation.

Problems initially arose between the two Alpha Sigma Alpha sisters when they roomed together while studying abroad in Barcelona, Spain. Brownstein and her parents claimed in a memo filed with the university that Lader bullied her throughout the international stay.

Can't be all that damned upsetting if neither girl will break their lease & they are supposed to be moving into the same apartment this month. What a mess, and among sisters at that.

Not exactly. Here's a quote from the article which explains the circumstances of their living situation for this year. They made plans to live together before all the troubles developed:

To further compound the issue, Brownstein and Lader are planning to live together this fall thanks to Penn State’s apartment market that forces you to solidify your off-campus housing plans almost a year in advance and a lease signed last fall.

According to emails filed in Lader’s lawsuit, Penn State offered to drop the investigation if she agreed to break her lease for this fall, but Lader refused and was soon charged with harassment. Neither girl has broken the lease yet, which with classes starting Monday means they’ll be moving in soon if they haven’t already.

Seems like a modern day Hatfields and McCoys or something of the sort.

I almost forgot about "sexiling," as I haven't thought about it in 15 years.

Ugh. This is my chapter.

I cannot imagine what it's going to do to rush. How do you sell girls that this is a strong sisterhood when this went on? (Albeit only 2 girls, both outside the country and away from the influence of the sorority and standards board at the time).

Why would the one girl get her (very influential) parent involved? What ever happened to learning to deal with life on your own?

Because that would be too easy. I have seen that kids these days want to be independent until something happens and they can't handle it themselves, then they involve their parents.

Can any of the adult women on this board imagine getting Mommy or Daddy involved in one of the squabbles you had with a sorority sister?

there weren't any noodles involved
I completely lost it at this phrase.

I also guess I totally missed a big lawsuit payday by not suing my roomie when she filled my bed with Cheetos.

If this girl's parents have that much pull, I'm pretty sure they'll be able to get her out of the lease or put in another unit if it's a complex.
