Thanks. I was good at math in high school (got a perfect score on that part of the ACT) but man oh man that withers if not used. So it is absolutely a reasonable investment. Thanks for clarifying that for me.

Here's the link to the Alabama recruitment booklet. There's a chart with maximum and average costs.

The lists of party times and number of parties per round is very interesting.

I have a rec girl at Bama who started recruitment today. I cannot even imagine the crowds at parties. The actives certainly have their work cut out for them!

Even with 26 first round parties scheduled .. with 2800+ PNMs that's an average of 107 PNMs at each party.

Only a little over 200 on the floor at any one time. No big deal. Think of it that way.

I have a rec girl (a young woman I've mentored extensively) going through at Alabama, so I'll be anxious to hear from her how it's going.

Women who were admitted to Alabama and other schools who signed up
for recruitment but then decided to attend another school and so didn't
show up for Alabama's recruitment. That accounts for some of the drop
in PNM numbers.

Registration begins May 1 and continues through Aug. 1, and then if they forgot they can register at the opening Convocation (Friday night before recruitment begins).
Right, maybe they register but never pay the fee. They wind up going somewhere else. They move in, take one look, and chicken out. They move in, tell mom and dad they're going to rush, but they're really there for the parties.
Lots of reasons.
How it's going: it's 10 a.m. and it's already raining. Thank God (and I mean that) it's cooler because of the rain....at least for the moment. As the sun climbs, it will get warmer and WAY more humid. Typical August weather in Tuscaloosa.
Today is the second day of ice water teas/AKA first round. Sororities host 26 parties over 2 days; PNMs go to all 16 participating sororities.
Tonight the PNMs will rank, and the sororities will submit their first release figures.
PNMs will get their party lists for the day in the morning.

Well it's a good thing Bama's rush isn't that big. I'm sure they can change gears quickly. Or just go manual. LOL.
