Can you be an advisor from afar (for something like finance)? Are there national project committees you can get involved with?

The Internet and Facebook has changed so much...30 years ago I might have only kept in touch with a handful of sisters because life happens. Alumnae chpaters helped to fill that gap. Nowadays I can send a message to literally any of the sisters who were in my chapter when I was.

Yes.

I went to a school with a rival 30 minutes away.

We share a couple of organizations. Ex: There are chapters of ABC and XYZ at both my school and Rival University.

Both amazing national orgs.

They are 30 minutes away but the on-campus opinions of each chapter are very different.

As 33girl indicated, those posts are anonymous and may not truly be made by collegiate-age women.

I take those posts with a grain of salt but I wonder if these ideas are a reflection of the rest of Panhellenic. NPC is a unified, 114 year-old organization whose members work toward PANHELLENIC strength. This means ALL 26 groups succeed because they work TOGETHER.

If the larger and strong NPCs are the ones that are desirable, won't that just cause the smaller groups to weaken? A panhellenic or university asking for NPC groups to present may choose presenters based on availability of local alums to assist what would become their new chapter. There are, for better or worse, NPC groups without strong alum representation in various areas of America.

I just see a lot of hate towards certain groups on the other site and based on these posts, it seems like certain colonies aren't given a fair chance due to these national stands. Each collegiate woman is chosen by her sorority based on factors unique to each particular group. Greekchat members promote keeping an open mind, during recruitment, to ALL PNMs.

When I went through recruitment years ago, I honestly had no idea about national tiers and didn't affect my decision but it seems like it's more of a factor nowadays.

Thoughts?

Unfortunately PNMs have all the Greek basher sites to go to now, which seem to exist more for the negative rather than the positive, bon homie spirit we foster. They are seeking info and have no idea those sites are not reliable.

So I do think that PNMs might be conscience of a perceived "national" rep, as discussed on those sites which truly is in perception only. Some might buy into it. I do think the rep on their local campus ultimately wins out for most because few PNMs Dan see past the first semester of their collegiate career.
