Hey, congrats to you. My boyfriend is a Pi Lam brother here at Penn State, the Omega Gamma chapter. He is from Virginia originally. Good luck to you! Maybe you can get some Pi Lam's to finally post on this board!

Awesome, good luck! Pi Lam is a great fraternity and deserves another chapter.

That's great, it would be great to see a Pi Lam chapter in the DC area.
I'm a Pi Lam volunteer on call living in northern Virginia and I'd really like to see this happen. Please feel free to email me.

Hey Corsulian,
I'm new to GMU, but my dad was a Pi Lam. I'm very interested in your efforts. I've been checking out other fraternities extensively (since there was no option to join Pi Lambda Phi here). Are you working with Nationals? Have you been recognized by them? How are your efforts with GMU?
From your past posts, I've noticed a few flaws though.
I went out to the Chi Psi house a few times and they don't appear to be going for numbers. They are in fact quite small and seem content that way. When I went there for a rush event, I actually met somebody from their Nationals who told me that the chapter at GMU was actually very important to them and that they were well respected within their organization.
The AEPi guys seemed pretty nice too, although a little snobby. I think they were recognized by their nationals as well, though they did not seem to be as supported as Chi Psi was. I think they were mainly of Jewish background but told me they were looking for "all sorts of people", not necessarily Jewish.

From what I've been told by both groups, the process for getting recognized on campus is long and tough. I've also spoken with Juliet Blank in the Student organizations office who confirmed this. Apparently you must start out with interest group status, then petition for colony status. Once you get colony status (which could take an indefinite amount of time to attain), you must spend atleast 2 years in colony status before getting full Chapter status and recognized by IFC as a fraternity. It's a long fight. The Chi Psi's are in the Colony phase, and the AEPi's have more or less dropped out. Let me know what your plans are, and how I can get in touch if you're serious about starting. Do you have any other members? Wow, i have so many questions.

Thumbs up Good luck with colonizing

Corsulian:

I am an alumni brother of the MNKX chapter at Winona State University. Keep trying. It's no easy road, but the rewards are great. Many of our chapters have been newly chartered, so keep working for it.

Pi Lams are recolonizing this Fall 2015 at Indiana State!!!!!!!!!!!! Greek life is really thriving on that campus again. Would be nice if they can rent out the ATO house since that chapter was closed?
