A new DNA test officially links Lee to another victim, Geralyn Barr DeSoto. Her family, our at least her aunt, has felt that the serial killer was responsible all along. Her phone was also taken. She was described as smart, athletic and trusting. She had just signed up for Grad School at LSU when she was murdered. Like Pace, she had graduated high school a year early.

You'll probably recogize Mike Cazes as the man in the Fowler investigation.

Now that they have him, I realy want to know WHY! What was his thinking and what was behind his "selection" process. Morbid maybe, but maybe we could learn something beyond the usual catch phrase-he had a troubled childhood.

Can a sane person ever really understand insanity?

I don't think so. I can't even begin to imagine what was going through his head when he was killing those women. I also want to know why???? Why did he pick them? Was it pre-meditated, did they somehow cross paths with him and make him mad, or were they just in the wrong place at the wrong time? He seemed to be all over south Louisiana, in Baton Rouge and the surrounding smaller towns like Lafayette, Zachary, and Addis. How many more are there that we don't know of??? I hope he admits to all the murders he has committed.

Also--and yet another "Oops" from the good ol' BR PD....
Why wasn't the murder of the young girl in Addis checked earlier??? She was murdered more than a year ago, and we just recently found out that her murder was connected???? WHAT???

I have a feeling that we'll be linking a ton of unsolved murders in the coming months. Mari Ann Fowler's fingernails left at the scene of the attack are being examined by the same new DNA test that linked DeSoto and Lee.
At first I thought that there had to be at least one other serial killer- the one we know of, then the one who killed the BR joggers- Schmitt and Boisfontane. Then the killer who killed the prostitutes. However, I just found an article on one prostitue, Lillian Robinson. Is it just me, or were these deaths not as publicized as someone with a pretty face who would make a better story.
I would speculate that there are at least a dozen connected to Lee (If Lee is truly our SK). The six that we now know of, plus Christine Moore, Randi Mebruer, Connie Warner, Mari Ann Fowler.

************************************************** *

St. Martin officials look for tie
between unsolved case, serial killer
WBRZ staff report
The St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office has shared evidence with the serial killer task force which may link an unsolved murder to that of the five confirmed victims of the killer.

Sheriff Michael Patin said similarities in the cases led his office to suspect that Lillian Robinson may have been killed by the same man. Robinson's nude body was found three years ago near Whiskey Bay just like two other confirmed serial killer victims.

Robinson disappeared from Baton Rouge's Melrose East neighborhood in January 2000 and a month later, a fisherman discovered her badly decomposed body 4 miles west of Whiskey Bay.

No DNA evidence is available in the case, but St. Martin chief of detectives Major Butch Dupuis said the similar profile to where she was found, she was nude and the type of death -- the cause of death is similar to the other ones. It's something that we definitely want to look at and present.

Robinson is among several Baton Rouge prostitutes whose murders have been unsolved. Robinson's family feels that she may have made an easy target for the serial killer in the start. We believe that the guy started out with easy targets and it got too easy for him, said Pat Dawson, Robinson's sister. And I think he felt like he needed to be challenged a little bit more, so he started targeting women that would not agree to just go with him.

Baton Rouge Police Chief Pat Englade confirmed that the serial killer task force detectives are looking Robinson's case and that they feel her death is not connected to the other prostitute murders.

Well, ThetaLove, I do have to say that I am very proud of you for keeping us all informed on the new happenings of the case.

I also have a comment for "Megerts". I wanted to give it some time and let the steam blow over before I replied to her ridiculous posts. I hope she saw the Primetime interview on Thurs. June 12 with Dianne Sawyer. The woman she was interviewing stated that the so called "Task Force" made many, many mistakes. She also said that after each murder, she flew down to Baton Rouge, and offered to help the Task Force, and they WOULD NOT

con't from above:

speak to her. I, for one, (and I know that I am NOT the only person who feels this way) think this is absurd!!! She listed (and it wasn't a short list by the way) all the mistakes that the Task Force made. I hope Mergets got a chance to see that interview.

Also, If she did see the interview, I wonder how it feels to have a "TEXAS-SIZED FOOT IN HER MOUTH!!!!"

Hi everyone!! Did anyone hear that Derek Todd Lee has to have surgery on his heart? I heard that from a friend of mine who said they heard it on the radio this morning. I'm going to try to find an article on it.

I agree with EVERYTHING you said !!!

BTW-maybe I should have posted this in the rush thread, but since BR is reading this...
I have two little friends who want to go through rush. They decided late...like THIS WEEK!!! I gave them some DG, DZ, Theta. DZ and Pi Phi and KKG names for recs. Do you think they will be OK???

They are a bit out of the loop though GPA and activities-honors really high. I know they recommended all be in by July 1st. These are sweeties, but they want me to tell them if they are going to be hurt. I told them not by some...maybe by others. What is your opinion??? ( I find it impossible to lie and I know they want reality.)

Hmm, tough quesion JAM. You're right when you say hurt by some, not by others. I for one think that some LSU sororities put too much emphasis on recs. (Or so it seems.) I've been out of the other side of rush for a year, but I remember the girls who didn't have recs or had recs turned in late, seemed to be cut from more sororities. I don't know if that was related to not knowing alums and therefore the rec that they eventually got was not as strong as another girls rec or if they're were different factors that played into that. However, they should still have a great rush!

As for DTL, at first I thought it was a rumor. Imagine that, a rumor in BR about the SK.

Here's a link, these courttv chatters know everything!

It was in the paper this morning...

I know this is going to sound cold and harsh, but PRIOR to our state spending thousands on this animal's "health plan", I would like to see if he gets the death penalty. Good enough reason, IMO, for a speedy trial. Maybe he will just drop over and save the taxpayer some money and the family of the victims some heartache. One problem with that however would be the possibility of not knowing who all he murdered.

Just as anyone with a little common sense suspected, DTL is linked to the Randi Mebrurer case. His semen was found at the scene of the crime. How long did it take to link all this?? He was the number ONE suspect in that case from day one!!! She was a nurse like Gina Green and the lady attacked (attempted rape and murder) in Breaux Bridge. Here are some interesting links, especially the story of the Breaux Bridge woman who was attacked, it is detailed.

This is now, the seventh murder!!! They finally figured out we had a serial killer after linking only two murders!!! Anyone bet Connie Warner will be linked eventually? FYI, that was 1992!!!!

DTL told a source that Randi's body would never be found.

In the MariAnn Fowler case, cell phone records indicate DTL was within miles of the scene of the crime.

I love Fox News (usually)

especially the last paragraph, at least they get their facts straight.

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,111167,00.html

It also made CNN. I was so disgusted when I saw the news this afternoon. I just wanted to cry and I felt sick all at the same time.

I feel so bad for the families who wil never know for sure. Like Christine Moore, whose death could have NEVER been linked to the same animal who murdered Pace and Green. After all, we were dealing with a white serial killer.

UGHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!

Who knows how many women are really victims of this man.

I can't help but think some of these deaths could have been prevented if , IF... Too many "ifs".

What I wish is this animal would accept his fate and find one speck of decency and confess about all his victims. Surely he remembers each one, unless it unravels into a situation like they have in Canada.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Canadian police have discovered the remains of nine more women on the property of alleged serial killer Robert Pickton - already accused of murdering 22 missing prostitutes. The latest discovery may mean one man is responsible for just under half of the 65 missing women in and around Vancouve.

However, finding more bodies around the pig farmer's property has not yet led to new charges.

Police said they still do not know the names of three of the nine people because their DNA does not match any of the names on the police's official list of missing women.

How messed up is it that they delayed his trial??

I can't even imagine how hard that must make it for the families of the vicitims...

But in better news, at least they finally caught the other South Louisiana Serial Killer... What a bunch of sickos
