Non-Member Question

I’m almost ashamed to post this but I will as I really would like to know. I’m a believer of no question is too stupid, so here goes. Upon competition from high school I was a young teenage mother that never wanted / planned on attending college. But as the years passed by, more and more I wanted to earn my college degree. I first saw AKA on a car license plate back in the Caribbean where I’m originally from. I was curious, wrote it down and looked it up online when I got home. More and more I was intrigued and very curious about it. I liked what I saw and wanted to be a part of this organization that encourages a bond of togetherness through sisterhood and a strong believer of giving back to their community. The only problem… I had no degree. Fast forward many years later and I’m nearing 40 – I would very MUCH like to be a part of this organization. I am now in school online and will graduate next summer in Texas where I now reside. Is 40 too old to become a member? I do not want to offend anyone and make a fool out of myself. Thanks in advance!

The NPHC organizations, including Alpha Kappa Alpha, generally don't answer questions here. However, you can find the answer to the question you've asked -- and many others -- at the national website, at http://www.aka1908.com/ . Read every page carefully.

If you have questions that the national website doesn't answer, the best way to get them answered is to get to know a few members of the organization well, and then talk to them.
