The Dream Interpretation Thread

In this thread we share any dreams or nightmares we recently had, and then we interpret them. Or if we can't figure out why we had the dream or nightmare, other GCers can help us find the answer.

I just woke up from a two in one really weird one. The first one, I dreamt that my mom and I were at the airport being chased by horses. I was running so fast that I lost track of my mom, who for some reason didn't know where she was. My mom does have bad short-term memory, so maybe that explains why she didn't know where she was. Eventually everybody in the airport was being chased by these horses that later turned into dinosaurs.

One of the dinosaurs chased me outside of the airport, which later turned into Godzilla. I never did find out what happened to my mom. And although I don't recall my dad being at the airport with us, after I escaped Godzilla I began to worry about them being harmed by the horses. That weird, somewhat of a nightmare faded, and faded back into another short dream about an evil Spiderman who would try to trick people into believing he was good, but his outfit looked slightly different from the good Spiderman's outfit. The evil Spiderman also was either not wearing a mask, or partially dressed in his fake spidey suit.

Wtf?

I'll take a stab. You are afraid with your new relationship that you're going to lose your mother. It occurred to you at some point that you should have the same concern about your father. The charging horses are the relationship, beautiful, strong and scary. The dinosaurs are your fears running away with you. And I think you're worried that you think you're good spiderman but really you're badspiderman.

I dream all the time and write them down as facebook statuses so I can remember them. I don't need interpretation, but here are some recent ones:

"Dreamed Mary Breaux Wright [National President of Zeta Phi Beta] called me and gave me ideas for regionalizing the licensed vendor structure, kinda like Amazon Prime, so that anyone who wants nalia can get it in two days or less."

***
"I dreamed Brittany [my friend] was out with my mom and I was at home in bed watching the late edition of fox 5 news. Long story short: several of the anchors including Wisdom Martin began stripping, and a game of touch football broke out on set. After the commercial break, Wisdom replayed everything to see how it all went wrong. Then Holly Morris came to my house to personally apologize, and she got to meet Brittany and my mom. Lmfao"

***

Dreamed that I was at Georgetown and they were bringing back the school of Dentistry. Meanwhile, a lady at CMEA [Center for Multicultural Equity and Access] was trying to convince me to apply for a job there.

***

Dreamed I gave a presentation on joining Greek life to a group of fifth graders

***

I dreamed I was at some sort of church hall and this white woman said something racist to me. When I tried to correct her politely, she put her hands on me! So I pushed the shit out of her. She then tried to call the cops, but all the good white people had my back. On the way out the door, I met a tall, slim, attractive older white man that I recognized. He was not an Alpha, but he knew one of the grips. He said he might be a Que, but he pledged so long ago, he didn't remember.

***

Thennnnn I dreamed Keeda and I were at a happy hour in Galveston, Texas.

***

Dreamed I was part of the Degrassi cast, then part of a Degrassi event where people ran a marathon while watching it. A cab driver picked me up to take me home, but he turned on me and started saying "You think this is a joke?" And started taking me off course while saying homophobic things. He pulled over and tried to attack me with a hammer. I began running from him, then as I was a waking up, I tried to use my powers to make him explode.

***

I dreamed it was the first day of class at Georgetown and I had Arabic on my schedule. I fell asleep hard and missed most of the lecture. The professor tried to make us sign some sort of agreement but I told him "this agreement doesn't supercede any I have in place with Georgetown University, the Center for Multicultural Equity and Access or the Counseling Center. Then after I signed it, I noticed he balled it up and threw it away.

***

Just dreamed that Harry Morgan from MASH was a fucking racist and I was sitting behind him at a concert for freedom. I was making all kinds of threats about slitting his throat, so he followed me to my grandmother's house and tried to fight me.

***

last dream was really long. Went from welcoming Neil back to the east coast, to spending the weekend in a hotel room with Boris Kodjoe and Jackie, to showing Kristoff St. John around bookstores in dupont circle

***

I just dreamed about Nneka Fritz and had THE ultimate breakdown when I woke up.
In the dream, I was traveling with her by water. She kept asking me if I was okay. I said yes. I asked if she was okay. She said she would be. We hugged each other and cried, as though this was the last journey of a terminally ill person.
I traveled the first leg with Brittany, her family, and some GXP members. We got off at the Baltimore harbor and met up with some people who were also there to see Nneka. One of the girls, a Delta, was waiting for something from Nneka but I couldn't see what it was.
Nneka told them she had to go do something and she and I went onto this church boat in the harbor. It was nighttime.
We talked about her being sick and we were both incredibly sad, but we both knew there was more and the sadness was only for right now.
David Bowie's "Rock and Roll Suicide" began playing and the boat we were on began filling up with people. As the song swelled, the boat became a bus and I lost sight of her. I got off at DuPont Circle and began walking to a bookstore. Nneka was still on the bus as far as I knew and I kept walking, noticing that I had slippers on my feet. They were slowing me down, but that was okay because I noticed a young man with a cane was trying to catch up to me.
I woke up thinking damn, it's sad that Nneka is dying.
Then it hit me. She's already gone.
She came back to say goodbye.

My wife has done (Jungian-based) dream interpretation as part of her spiritual direction practice for years, and she always says that everyone in a dream represent some aspect of the dreamer. With that understanding, your mom in your dream is not your mom, she is part of you. Perhaps it indicates a fear of outgrowing your inner parent, to which you relate as a child, and "growing up" in some sense—or perhaps a need to do that, or even being driven to do that?

And why am I not surprised that Sen dreams things like being part of the DeGrassi cast.

I dreamed I was on one of the cooking shows, I think Kitchen Nightmares, and I couldn't find the kind of beer that my table wanted. I took them red cookies instead.
I have very vivid and odd dreams.

I had a dream last night that I was thinking about as I was in the shower. When I realized what it was really about I was really cranked because that d-bag doesn't deserve any more time in my thoughts.

I dreamed the other night that I showed up at a customer topless. And I was sitting there at the table, and one of the men just kind of laughed and said, "They told us you might do that."

I'm sure this is that I feel unprepared/exposed and vulnerable about some of the things I'm presenting to my customers.

It depends on if you were embarrassed or ok with your toplessness. And since it was only topless I would say you were only partially exposed. And them not being horrified by your lack of preparedness tells me you aren't really that concerned.

I have recurring dreams that I'm at work, in public, etc. and I'm wearing my nightgown. I spend the whole dream wondering why I didn't get dressed before leaving the house, and trying to prevent people from noticing what I'm wearing.

I once read that Barbara Walters managed to make a frilly robe look like an evening gown, when she had to go to a last-minute invitation formal event in Manila. I don't think I could pull that off.

ETA: I had to see if my memory served me correctly, so I Googled Barbara Walters nightgown:

@ Phrozen, I have an app on my phone that interprets dreams. It's called "idream". You should download it on your phone. It's a free app.
