San Diego State Kappa Delta passes from meningitis

Sara Stelzer, 18, was a freshman.

She was the daughter of a friend of a friend. I never met her though, this is very sad.

Based on her social media pages, she looks like the kind of girl that could be in any chapter. Fun and sometimes self deprecating. Her family will be in my thoughts today.

Condolences to Kappa Delta sisters; heartbreaking news.

I have received numerous messages from SDSU regarding the death of a student, but nothing stated she was a KD. I am holding all of my sisters and her family in my prayers.

UPDATE:

I have been in touch with the CAB Chair for Beta Rho Chapter. The chapter is not under any kind of quarantine. Sara lived in the dorms, so the students in her dorm, like the KD's and the 2 fraternities who had parties, are being advised to start antibiotics. Sara was vaccinated but according to the CDC, the meningitis vaccine does not protect against every strain.

There is concern that students at her high school were exposed when she went home last weekend for homecoming.
