Because there are multimillion dollar homes at risk here. This is a lot more than a club for women. And a new beatiful house at Bama coupled with a failed chapter could literally mean the end of a sorority. Nationwide.
The houses at Bama are on UA land with a UA mortgage. UA will simply take the house back via a method already included in the land lease and the mortgage. So problem there other than the bad PR.
This is a perfect example of how sorority rush in all its glory is just not the same from one place to another. I personally think you'd have a better chance at Alabama without recs than you would at Texas. Not that I would recommend foregoing them at either school.

While that's true, those women also have NPHC options and it can sound a bit like we're saying the best black girls would WANT to be in NPC sororities. The better statistic might be percentage of affiliated women, not just NPC affiliates.
