Smile Recruitment Questions!

Hey y'all! I'm Muffy, I'm from the Mu Lambda chapter at Wingate University, and we were just installed as a chapter in April. I was elected as the VPM, and I'm SO incredibly excited to recruit new members to something I am so passionate about. Do any of you out there have any recommendations for recruitment events, and how to attract girls from all around campus to join SAI? Wingate has 4 social sororities already on campus, and I want the freshmen to know even though we're not Panhellenic, we're still another great option.

Hi! I'm an alumna of Beta Lambda, and here's some events we did:

Be a Kid Again. It was a combination of all the fun games you'd do as a kid.
Zumba. It got everyone dancing and having a good time. There were experts and people who weren't, but it was a supportive event.
Progressive Dinner. We had different courses for a dinner in different rooms of the music building.
Instrument Playground/Open Choir. Before our weekly choir meeting, sisters who were instrumentalists brought their instruments so that sisters and guests could have fun with playing an instrument which was not their own, and then the guests were welcome to attend our choir rehearsal.

As for bringing girls in from different areas of campus, Beta Lambda, when I graduated, probably had about a 50/50 split between music majors and non-music majors. What helps the most is having sisters who are also not music majors to encourage girls in their disciplines and related ones to join, because they see that there are people like them in the sisterhood.

I hope this helps you as you begin your first recruitment season! Congratulations on your recent installation!

I'm not a member, but what about doing some sort of craft making musical instruments out of household items like they do in kindergarten and then playing a song at the end (something like "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star")? Like a balloon stretched over a coffee can for a drum, rubber bands over a tissue box for a stringed instrument, filling glasses with water as a xylophone, etc. It's kind of silly but could be fun.

Thank you both for your input! There's so much to plan out, and with no predecessors, everything is a bit confusing.
