I have already booked my hotel room. We are staying right next door to the Cobo Center at the Hotel Pontchartrain. If you are going you need to go ahead and book your room or you will have to stay in Canada 30 minutes away.

Hey Sorors,
There must be a misunderstanding. Canada is not 30 minutes from Detroit. It's right across the river via the Ambassador Bridge or you can take the tunnel. It takes less than five minutes once you go through customs and everything. If you plan to do so, make sure you bring your birth certificate and a passport wouldn't hurt. They've really tightened up since 9/11.

Distance
The Cobo Center is about 30 min. from Canada. Just giving everyone a heads up hotel rooms are limited.

Once again soror, being a native Detroiter, I can say that Canada is not 30 minutes from Cobo. Go to Mapquest.com to acquire directions. Once you do that you will see that it is .52 miles from one point to the next. Again if sorors do decide to stay at the Casino Windsor remember to bring your birth certificate or passport.

Sorors,
per our Executive Director in the current Ivy Leaf, if you are staying in Canada, you must have a passport.
also, i would get the passport now. they take awhile to come in unless you pay more to expedite its delivery.

sorry to intrude, but if you stay in Canada bring your birth certificate also (your real one NOT a copy). I heard that they are taking extra precautions because of some new law going into effect soon. Although Canada is less than 15 minutes from Cobo, make sure to leave early due to procedures to get into the U.S.;this could elongate your travel time to and from the center.

Exactly soror. Usually you didn't need a birth certificate or passport. However, things are changing with border procedures all the time. Beginning in July of this year, you will need a passport(that's what we were told last year). So it'll just be good to have both if you plan to stay there. Canada is actually very nice and Casino Windsor has a beautiful hotel. It's just a matter of whether you want to go through the hassle of being tied up at the border. You can always reserve rooms in the suburban hotels, you'll just need a rental.
"Sorry to intrude". Soror you are funny. LOL.
