What do you think of the new SAT coming soon? Looks like this is the one my kids will be taking.

Here's a quick comparison https://www.collegeboard.org/deliver...ty/sat/compare

Honestly, while adding the writing section was well intentioned, in practice, it was awful. I think it's a good change.

It definitely sounds like the SAT folks are trying to stem the tide of losing significant market share to the ACT. It used to be that ACTs were mainly used in the Midwest and maybe the West? Nowadays, pretty much all universities accept the SAT and/or ACT. The four hour SAT test is tough to do, especially if you get the writing section before the math or english sections.

I hated the SAT and the darn word association questions- if green is to steeple, then what is popsicle to a)bulldog b)Haley's Comet c)Reverse Polish Notation d)Dolley Madison. Woof. I did much, much better on the ACT, and so did both of my kids.

Is this to reduce some of the biases in standardized tests? There will always be biases in standardized tests.

I didnt keep up with the last changes.

Seems like the SAT will look more like the GRE.

I haven't read the article, but as a teacher who has proctored the SAT when it didn't have the writing section, then got paid the same to do it after the writing section was added, I vote for no writing section. Then again, after proctoring once with writing section, I was done and haven't proctored in years

I'm glad the writing section is gone. I took it before the writing section was there, but my sister took it and absolutely hated it. The essay section was 25 minutes long. How to they expect kids to write a good essay in less than an hour?! CollegeBoard is ridiculous.
