Clemsongirl, it is so nice to hear such a successful recruitment story! I will be rushing as a sophomore next year at Clemson, so I was wondering if you had any advice for going through recruitment as an upperclassmen...my main concern was that most of the sophomore quota would get filled up by transfers or former Bridge students that have close friends in all of the sororities (I am out of state like you), but your story gives me hope! Besides getting rec letters and being very open minded and positive throughout recruitment, what other advice would you give to a sophomore rushing at Clemson/what would you do differently if you could?

The sophomore quota is used for girls who come in for all different reasons-I know lots of girls who simply didn't rush or re-rushed and were more successful the second time around. I don't think there's much I'd do differently and you seem to most of the best advice, but I cannot stress enough to keep an open mind! Tent talk most certainly happens, but knowing in your heart how YOU feel about a chapter is crucial. Feel free to PM me if you want to talk more about recruitment here!

Bumping this story not only to fight off the inevitable tide of spam but also because it's recruitment of my senior year, and yet it seems like days ago that I went through it here! I will confess, though, that I did have to puzzle out what my secret sorority code was because I'd lost the notepad I kept it on :P

My daughter is going thru recruitment at Clemson right now, it has been pretty stressful. In your experience, if a legacy gets invited to pref night, will the PNM be at the top of their bid list?

Different sororities have different policies. No one can speak for all groups, since this is private membership selection information.

As far as I know, all sororities put legacies on their first bid list if they get invited to pref. In other words, they're guaranteed a spot. Typically that means a lot of legacies get cut the night before preference.

Gentle reminder - we've had this discussion before. You only speak about your sorority, not any others.

I decided to ask Google lol. This sorority's legacy policy can be publically accessed on their website and does indeed state that if a legacy is invited to preference event, they will be placed on top of bid list Whew!

Some sororities have a national policy and some leave it up to each chapter to decide what their policy will be. You can google each one and find out! It's good to be prepared beforehand with the knowledge. Recruitment is an extremely stressful process so it can be helpful to at least have a grip on one aspect of it lol.

Tri Delta's legacy policy currently states that a legacy brought to pref can be placed on the first list, but if not, must be at the top of the second list.

To my knowledge, there has never been a DZ chapter at Vanderbilt, so either Vandygrad231 is the father or the legacy status is via another relative or was a DZ somewhere else. Congrats to your daughter, vandygrad231!

All thats changed. Tri Delta lets individual chapter decide their legacy policies.
