Is there an official quota number determined at University of Alabama? Various numbers have been posted on this thread.

You know why "they" say that? Because all they think Alabama folks are a bunch of Honey Boo Boo in-bred rednecks who want to have a closed society and why on earth would their precious snowflake want to come to such a backwards place....she'll never fit in. Grow up folks. We got shoes, indoor plumbing and electricity at the same time you did.

Please keep in mind that of that just over 2100 registered, and 1896 were given bids. Of the percentage who dropped or were released a big number are released because (in spite of clear literature and warnings from UA Panhellenic) they register with GPAs that fall below the threshold. My daughter has two hometown acquaintances who both fell below the mark. Her sorority has one of the higher GPA requirements. Unfortunately, some girls think the rule doesn't apply to them, so when the initial cuts are made, they are left with either few options or no options for bids.

I used Control F to find all the Ala. girls and it came up with 532. Seems like your number is pretty good. I never hand count if I can help it - I always get distracted and lose my place!! Technology can be a great help for people like me!

I did some break down of the Alpha Phi pledge class. Out of a total of 118 new members, here is what I got:
Alabama=22
Illinois=13
Georgia=10
Florida=9
Texas=8
Maryland=7
California=6
Indiana=6
Colorado=5
Ohio=5
Massachusetts=4
Tennessee=4
Virginia=3
Connecticut=3
Pennsylvania=3
New York=2
New Jersey=2
North Carolina=1
South Carolina=1
Wisconsin=1
Utah=1
Arizona=1
Kentucky=1
Oregon=1
Total=118
*About 1/5 of the new members are from Alabama
*About half of the new members are from Southern states

Two of my Alabama rec girls went Gamma Phi! I am over the moon! Two others went Kappa. It looks like the other four withdrew or were released.
Congratulations to all the new members, chapters and parents who survived this week!

I am told that quota was 110 with the option to extend bids to 7 upperclassmen.
Pi Phi pledged 117, not 116.

DG took 10 UC so that part can't be right. Have asked our consultant. Maybe she will awake from her sleep deprived coma sometime today!
