It drives the executive producer, Mike Fleiss crazy. Apparently 2 years ago, when Brad was the Bachelor, the producers hired someone to give RS fake information-that Emily and Chantal were the final 2 (which they were), but that Brad was engaged to Chantal. RS ran with that for months until like 2 weeks before the finale when he correctly spoiled that Brad was engaged to Emily.
Here's my question. Why, the last few years has there always been a proposal in the finale? I've read some interviews from past contestants who have said that the contract doesn't read that they have to propose, or even pick one of the last 2 contestants. 7 weeks and they're getting "engaged"? If there's a guy or girl you really like is it too much to ask to just give them the final rose and agree to keep dating?

Didn't that occur at least once on the show?

It has occurred. And there was the time that the guy dumped both of them. Was that Brad too? I don't recall.
I think that most of the show is scripted, especially the year that he picked one, they broke up and he got with the #2 girl. I think that was a big set up.
I'm not even sure why I still watch the show, but I do...lol. It is still entertaining, even if it is mostly scripted. I did feel for AshLee this week though. If she really was trusting Sean, that probably set off a lot of her abandonment issues. I'm never sure how real some of the emotions are or if that's all scripted too though.

Word is that they'll be announcing the Next Bachelorette on the live After The Final Rose finale on March 11. Reality Steve says that it won't be the runner up (between Lindsay and Catherine). I'd like to see it be Desiree but I'm content with anyone else.

I should probably stop reading Reality Steve so I'm surprised at the end, eh?

I've gotten to where I don't even watch the show, but just read Reality Steve.

I give it 5 months as MOST of the bachelor relationships don't make it beyond that and not ONE had actually ended in a marriage.

Jason married his runner up! There have been two bachelorette weddings. Maybe they just need to do more of those.

Media Whores
Announcing right away that they will have their wedding on national television just screams MEDIA WHORES.
And the way that he likes to take off his shirt on all the time. He has the body, but, still...
I don't care how sincere they are, this is all one big publicity stunt.
Give them SIX months and they will be split city...which means more MEDIA!
See a pattern here???
Who wants to bet on how long that they will stay together? I bet 3 TROLL RECRUITMENT STORIES on 6 months.

Catherine and Sean may love one another, and truly desire marriage, but it's ABC who are running the publicity stunt.
In the after-proposal show, Catherine did not facially seem to savor the idea of a televised wedding. Her smile faded and she tightened her lips.
She may have been 'talking positive' only for the show, keeping things 'light' (as desired by show producers?) especially since Sean mentioned the two of them were "still discussing" the matter.
Planning a wedding is stressful enough without wondering if your guests will agree to show up when it's nationally televised (and available for the world on the webs).
Typical but shameful of the producers to put the brand-new couple on-the-spot every season-concluding episode.

I disagree Cheerio. These people are foolish enough to sign up to be on the show. They know the score when they start. They sign contracts. And, to BackbOwls... everybody on the show is a media whore. That's what it is about. That's the premise of the show.

Update on Lesley Murphy (from Sean Lowe's "The Bachelor" season on ABC): she is recovering from a preventative double mastectomy. Her mother, Chi O/Arkansas, is a breast cancer survivor. Lesley is a Chi Omega from UGA.
