I love it when you talk about the filioque clause and theosis.

Yes I have done my research, and I am well aware that there are plenty of sororities in S.C. However there are none in my area of S.C. (no christian sororities that is). There have been much talk from people in my area about starting a christian sorority, or bringing a chapter of another sorority into my home town. Do you have any other advice I could use? I would appreciate all I can get. Thanks :0

I believe the overwhelming advice in this thread was to investigate the Christian sororities that are already in existence. There do not have to be chapters of a sorority in your state for you to start a chapter.

Do not call yourself "soror" until you are a member of a GLO that uses "soror."

You Orthodox are so picky.

ETA: Actually on a more serious note, with the population of Orthodox Christianity (both Eastern and Oriental) increasing, it might just happen that a sorority is found on those ideals.

Funny this thread started when it did, because this week/weekend is the annual United Council of Christian Fraternities and Sororities conference, a Greek Council comprised of Christian Fraternities and sororities, if you will.

One of the tweets I received from a member of Delta Psi Epsilon was a quote made not two hours ago that echoed a lot of replies made in this thread:

"There has been an unprecedented increase in startups of Christian fraternities and sororities in the past five years". ~UCCFS Chairman Brown

Which lends itself to begging the original rebuttal question: why the need for another Christian GLO?

Just my thoughts.

The first thought that popped into my head is that Orthodox Christians don't seem to get along well, not to mention how closed off the communities can be. I know there are Orthodox women in sororities, including existing Christian sororities, but I'd be surprised if they're as critical as I am about the theological underpinnings of their orgs.

Not all Christians would be "at home" in any of the existing Christian organizations. There's always room to grow, but only the viable orgs with strong foundations will ultimately survive.

I concur! There are over 50. Surely one that exists fits your criteria.

Contact the one you are interested in and see if you can do a charter in your area. You have to be willing to make a serious commitment.

I doubt she's seeing your post -- her entire GC experience looks like it took place in one week over a year ago.
