Now her tale of getting the NPHC organization to approve her membership is covering her tracks that she lied during the interview?

Exactly what I was thinking... you beat me to it!

Crazypants is a derogatory term and people with real mental illness are disempowered by it.

I have yet to respond here, but I've made my way through the entire thread and have finally formed an opinion based on everything I've read...

Looking for someone to blame? The OP should cover her butt?
This isn't the scandal of the century. And the OP has already discussed this with others, including the Dean herself. If this is against some rule, and word gets out, the Dean will ultimately pay the price.
The OP will not be the focus of the issue.

When she brought up her concern and it was not taken any further, then the OP carried out her moral duty. The OP did all she could, and should, do.
.....
Also, as much as we honor and respect our greek membership, and as much as it is important to us, as far as a College / University is concerned, other than RM issues, Greek Life is not high on the priority list. A College/University can completely eliminate Greek Life and the school will still operate.
|
This! Even the other people on this panel who helped to hire this person brushed it off like it was nothing.
Those who aren't Greek probably don't care too much. They most likely didn't even know what the OP was talking about when she expressed her concerns. There are many immoral things a person can do, and joining two different Greek organizations probably comes in at # 235,392 on the Most Horrific list.
If in the future, this in some way negatively affects the Dean's ability to perform her job, then yes, the OP should escalate the issue. However, for now, I think she should keep quiet.

Well, yes. But if part of your job is to protect the integrity of those organizations, you look like a real asshole if you've done something fairly recently in your life that calls that into question. It's like - no, shopping at Nordstrom if you work at Macy's is not "wrong." But if you walk into Macy's every day with your Nordstrom tote bag, wear nothing but clothes from Nordstrom and recommend Nordstrom over Macy's to all your friends - you're probably an asshole. I know that's a random analogy but justgowithit.
I agree with Sen in that if there IS another one of the 8 as yet unconfirmed NPHC GLOs that would allow this, it would make the whole system/council look really bad...and if it's a rogue chapter allowing this...they need to be severely disciplined.
And I drink Coke, Diet Coke, or Diet Pepsi, and have no loyalty to any of them, it's just what I feel like at the time. Regular Pepsi is too sweet and Dr Pepper is foul.

As asshole? Yes. However, I don't believe the OP should put her own reputation on the line over something that may not even be a problem.

Yes! I grew up in NH, and for some reason, one of my teachers brought this to class for all of us to taste one day. I've never seen so many grossed out kids. It is incredibly disgusting. I'm not sure that stale grape soda with pennies soaking in it truly sums this up.. "soda" shouldn't even be allowed in the same sentence as Moxie. That gives people the impression that it should actually be consumed.
I don't know why anyone would even consider drinking this stuff.

My question from like three pages back was not answered....what was the point of asking the original question in this thread? Did dirty laundry just need to be aired?
