It's likely that they just don't like you as a person.

While that could also be true, the words in the quotes was what I was told by the members of said org.

You'd be surprised at how hard it is for members to say "We're not interested in you."
Good luck, though.

Thats the thing though it did not come from a member of the undergraduate chapter,in fact the undergraduate guys wanted me to pledge. It came from a guy in a graduate chapter and after he said his bit about everything they no longer seemed to want me around. *shrugs*
I would think it would be easier to say "We're not interested in you." than to resort to flat out racism. O_o

Well, not really. If they make it because of your race, it makes it impersonal. It's like if you say to a girl "sorry I'm not attracted to you, but I don't like blondes" when her hair has nothing to do with it, it's her personality that bugs.

Anyway, as with most NPHC aspirant questions, we cannot help you on Greekchat but we wish you well. Good luck.

While I like the opinions on my personal situation, I was really looking for opinions about the broader subject at hand. As for my personal experience it really doesn't matter, because it happened way back in 2008 during my first semester in college. I was just using it to show why I don't believe that ethnicity should be a deciding factor in a fraternity membership.

Uh...good for you. This topic has been discussed on GC many times over the years. Partake in the existing threads or go away with your redundancy.

If you don't like the thread, nobody is forcing you to make comments or read it for that matter

Apply this logic to your need to discuss the topic.

Maybe I haven't read enough, but it was my understanding that an aspirant of a D9 group would not even be in the situation where they'd be discussing membership with members that early in their college career.

It really depends on the school you attend and the chapter's own rules at that school, the school I was attending at the time didn't have any rules about freshman, nor did the chapter.
