I have to admit that I am surprised. ADPi has not been gone from Ole Miss very long. I thought they would choose another group this time. No matter, I am very glad to welcome ADPi ladies back to Oxford

Congrats to ADPi. How exciting for you!
So, question for those who know Ole Miss:
Is a new colonization a good chance to go after some real diversity in an NPC group, or would that doom the group from the start?

I never saw a post on other sorority colonization threads where someone asked if the new colony would strive to increase sorority diversity on that campus. I'm not convinced that Ole Miss's sororities are significantly less diverse than those on the majority of campuses. Yes, looking at pledge class pictures posted on GC, there are some chapters and campuses where there is a more diversity overall. But, truthfully, it's not like Ole Miss is the exception in terms of low diversity -- at all.

There are already women of color in our NPC community at Ole Miss.
As someone who attended all 4 presentations I am pleased to say I'm very happy to see ADPi and Alpha Phi joining our wonderful Panhellenic Community. I hope to see some AOII loves ADPi and AOII loves Alpha Phi buttons soon!

Whether or not women of color want to join, or actually join NPC is their choice. After all, there are persons of non-color who are members of NPHC orgs.
I just did not understand the implication KSUViolet made in saying that when people of color have access to college and move into the middle class, then they will want to join historically White orgs. That is how I interpreted her statement.
My issue is that people of color have had access to college, and are members of the middle class. Just because those AfAm have reached that level does not mean that all of us have a desire to join historically White orgs, like NPC.
It is not my intent to derail this thread. Its that what she said left me and .

Has Alpha Phi been selected to colonize, too?

Are there black women in NPC groups at Ole Miss? Or other women of color? I honestly thought I remembered a thread as recently as last year saying that there were still no black women in the NPC groups.
Obviously, the way I posed the question, women of color could be Asian, Latina, etc., too, and I have no idea how those groups are represented. I also recall, though, that Ole Miss is the only school I know of that doesn't arrange its recruitment to accomodate the Jewish High Holidays.

If I recall, the student body president is black...and a Phi Mu at Ole Miss. But if I recall from the photos, yes there are black women in quite a few of the NPC sororities on campus...
Correct me if I am wrong

No, that's at Bama. In a thread where she was mentioned, I was corrected for thinking that they were interchangeable :-)
