Greetings SiStar
I too am a member of the Order. When I petitioned for membership into OES "could I still become an AKA" was at the top of my list of questions that I have to know the answer to before I join. Mind you, I am not a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. But becoming a member has always been a desire of my heart. The Order, for most of us, is something we are born into. In most cases the bloodline is required for membership. As for AKA, from what I've learned on aka1908.org and by hearsay bloodline is honored but is not and was never a requirement. Its this little difference and many more that we as SiStar's understand and not as AKA's find confusing. But long story short, as long as there are no restrictions in your juro, Grand bylaws, or chapter bylaws you are free to join any other organization that you so choose. We aren't listed as NPHC so you should be clear to join as long as you meet the requirements that are listed on that sorority's website.
God Bless
