Flowers for a new Zeta???

Hi everyone - my youngest niece just went Zeta and I want to send her some "Congratulations!" flowers as I did for my two older nieces when they pledged. Thing is, the first two nieces' sorority has an "official" flower that is very easy to have delivered. Zeta - not so sure what to do, since best I can tell it's not feasible to get a bouquet (or any other configuration) of white violets delivered from the local flower shop. I've thought about going to Michaels and seeing if they have artificial white violets and sending those (I think this is a better idea than it sounds, I would get one of my lady friends to fix it up all nice for me). BUT... do any Zetas here have any thoughts on flowers to send that would be nice and lovely and somewhat Zeta-ish but not symbolic of any other sorority? Not that niece would freak out if she got carnations but just want to try to do this right, out of principle. Thoughts? Thanks!

Call some florists and see if they have potted white violets. Then she could water them and maybe plant them outside her house, and they wouldn't die!

Congrats to your niece, and kudos to you for being such a cool uncle!

Or you could do a bouquet of white flowers (roses, lilies, etc...) and have the florist incorporate turquoise and grey ribbons on the vase?

all good suggestions. it can be hard to find white violets(wish our founders had thought about that), so if you are having a hard time finding some, any white flowers would do. shirley, i love your idea of incorporating turquoise and grey ribbon
amongst the flowers.

what a sweet guy you are!

Or you could send her a basket of strawberries! (another thing special to ZTAs) :-)

That is so sweet of you! I will tell you that when I asked for white violets to be incorporated into my wedding bouquet, my florist warned me they'd be tough to find. He was going to use silk, and I was fine with that, but then he did find live ones! Silk ones can look very pretty as well. And then they'd last for her as a reminder of her sweet uncle. :-)

I like this idea a lot better!! One of those edible bouquets and have it decorated w/ turquoise and silver ribbon. More fun to share with the rest of her pledge sisters too.

Thanks so much everybody for the ideas!!!! (Also - oddly enough - IKEA, amongst their very random collection of stuffed animals and other items, has a stuffed strawberry with a smiley face... as well as a stuffed broccoli and a stuffed carrot that looks sort of like a little orange Klansman. They have rats as well. Stuffed ones, I mean.)

this is my new most favorite post on GC, and you, MrPitt, are my new favorite poster. I hope you stick around. Anyone who shops at IKEA and is brave enough to mention a stuffed rodent and stuffed fruits and vegetables is a keeper in my book.

GMTA - I was just thinking how great MrPitt is and how amused I am by an orange Klan Karrot (sic) being sold by IKEA.

I may be late to the party, but I LOVE the idea of sending chocolate covered strawberries (especially since strawberries are linked to Zeta, although I'm not sure if it's an official symbol). That would be a delicious surprise and I know I always prefer food to flowers.

One year our house mom bought a small potted white violet (think they were white african violet though) for each sister living in house. It was a really nice gesture but mine didn't live too long. I had a black thumb in those days LOL
