new shoes?

a friend will begin student teaching in a couple of weeks and mentioned that she desperately needs to find a stylish, comfortable pair of shoes, since she will be standing on her feet a lot. she would prefer flats. any suggestions?

What type of dress will she wear daily?

Will the shoes have to crossover from pants to skirts to dresses? How dressy or casual?

she will be teaching high school-probably wear nice, tailored slacks; business casual type stuff. the occasional skirt or dress.

Uh, can we not post pictures anymore?

Anyway, I tried to post a picture, but I have a pair of these and love them for days when I'm on my feet most of the workday.

Call them grandma shoes if you want, but they are certainly comfortable.

You can get them elsewhere, too - just Google Dr. Scholl's Flats and a bunch of different colors pop up. I think they're called "Feel Crazy Good."

I'm turning in my Young Woman card now.

Okay...it depends on where she lives and also her professional dress code for her school. Believe it or not, Crocs has a line of shoes that are very comfortable but can pass for work shoes in the teaching world. Also, New Balance has a line of shoes called Aravorn/Aravon--something like that. They are absolutely wonderful. I really recommend the flats or small heels over high heels. Lots of walking, and the occasional fire drill.
