I know- every scenario in my head involves a poor outcome. Still nothing in my in box. Heading to work but will be checking throughout the day. What time do bids go out?

Bids go out at 6pm. The girls hear before if they are not getting a bid...that happens in the morning, but I don't know when. A lot of nervous pnms going to their first day of classes!

Been getting bits and pieces from sophomore active who also has gone through late nights, early mornings, lost voice, lectures, debates, and tears. The process is tough for both sides and no decision has been easy. Let's keep all the girls in our thoughts and prayers as they start classes tomorrow as well as Bid Day.

I can stop holding my breath. The PNM who I was helping prepare for UGA recruitment called and told me she was going to three pref parties. One was one of her top choices for the entire process but she would be very happy with either of the other two. There are so many broken hearts from UGA rush but at least it didn't happen to her.

I can't believe they have their first day of classes and bid day all rolled into one.
Granted, my first quarter (when we were on quarters, you know, back in the dark ages) wasn't exactly rocket science, but by that point, I'd already had bid day, plus one extra day to recover from Rush/Bid Day.
And I had needed it!
But I definitely rolled out of bed in time for my very first college class which started at 7:50 AM and was alive, alert, awake and enthusiastic. French 201. Taught by the ever-dreamy TA, Ben. Sigh...Ben.
What had been really nice though is that the sister who ended up becoming my Big took me all over campus the day before classes to show me exactly where I'd need to go, and which bus lines would get me there.
Happy memories.

A little sad -- a family friend chose to drop out of UGA recruitment today. I had written her a rec. Such a terrific girl but perhaps someone whose quirky fabulousness has to grow on you. Recruitment has its limitations, unfortunately.

Did she not like her Pref Party invites or did she at least go to the parties?

Is anyone heading down to Milledge by chance? Should be crazy later today as it always is. I've never been there on bid day, but from what my two older cousins have told me and from videos on youtube it's quite a scene!
Best of luck to everyone still alive in the UGA recruitment process! I will post later if/when I hear news about my cousin. But for now, I'm gonna hit the sack.

good luck to all the PNMs for today. and hugs to those who are out. and prayers to all that they have found their home and their heart. It is difficult. I have learned so much about recruitment this week...throw everything you thought you knew out the window.

They should move rush back where they get their bids a couple days before school starts. Everyone involved is exhausted and starting school. They did not do this when I went through recruitment.

I don't know what they're thinking--having Bid Day the first day of school. Do you think that any of those girls will be in any mental shape to listen to their professors?

While that first day may be stressful, if they push it back any more, it would really interfere with rush workshops for those actives already taking summer classes (a pretty common thing at UGA). My final was on the first of two days for final exams in the summer semester, and it coincided with the first day of workshop for my sorority. If recruitment started any earlier, it would only give those girls taking summer classes a few days to prepare, or would (hopefully not) distract them from studying for finals.
And yes, I went to workshop right after I finished my 8am final.

Agreed on the timing of bid day and the first day of classes. Very poor planning. The girls are exhausted and riddled with anxiety. And what about the poor girls who learned this morning that they did not receive bids? Talk about a terrible start to the semester. I believe it's also bid day for fraternities.

Is this maybe to make it easier on out of state students so they're not stuck there for days if they don't get a bid?
ugamama, we posted at the same time.
