Thanks everyone!
Thank you all for the nice messages and condolences... I am probably more surprised and shocked than anything. One of her top choices (and one of the 3 that dropped her today) was my chapter at Auburn - so you know that hurts, too. Even though I knew all of the facts about legacies, recs, etc. I just never thought my daughter would be completely dropped. I had been talking and talking to her about staying open minded and giving every group a chance and she was doing that. Not sure if the other two thought she was legacy and would not be open or what happened - and we will never know....
She has an audition on Tuesday (musical) so hopefully that will go well and she will be able to start out with that activity and look for other avenues to get involved.
I am still interested in what happens to the other PNM's and daughters of mom's who've been posting so I will stick around and rejoice with those that make it! Good luck to each and every one of you !!

Lavalier, you are being so awesomely understanding - as a mom AND as a sorority alumna. Too many people throw the latter out the window when things don't work out. If you have passed on your attitude to your daughter, she'll be happy in whatever she does at Auburn (or life!!).

Right. I applaud her calmness and not bashing/berating her chapter. I've seen that happen on here, too.

Dauhter has 3 parties. One group there are unanswered questions about them that I hope the Pref party will answer. Depending on the answers a bid from any of the 3 would be good.

I think they are a generally assured bidding campus.
Meaning that nothing is guaranteed, but if you attend and rank all 3 of your choices for pref, you most likely will get a bid to one of them (though it may not be your #1.)

We have known of, in very recent years, girls who went to 3 parties and ranked all 3 but didn't get a bid.

What's the possibility of either snap bids or COR at Auburn?

Many sororities require than legacies invited to pref be on the first bid list. So legacies can be cut one round earlier than they would be otherwise. It is entirely possible that others cut someone who is still attending legacy sorority. So, if someone in that situation is still interested, she should might want to sign up for COB.

The Auburn Panhellenic facebook page has pictures of PNMs waiting for preference parties.

Wareagle and Lavalier, my heart sincerely goes out to you.
One of the reasons my daughter chose Auburn over all of the other great schools we visited, literally all over the country, was the overwhelming friendliness of the students. From the kid who struck up a conversation with us in the Chik Fil 'A line in the student union, to the groups of students who yelled "Come to Auburn!!" at our tour group, we were blown away by the wonderful spirit, unity, and closeness demonstrated by everyone we met.
You/your daughter will be welcomed into this close-knit family, will make fabulous friends, and will have many happy college experiences/memories. This will all soon seem like just a bump in the road.
Best of luck to you, and please let everyone here know if you decide to pursue COR. We are rooting for you.

This is arguably the best post since I've been on GC. This is literally why I chose to go to AU. When I visited it, I was blown away by how friendly everyone was. It was really refreshing to be around a place where everyone seemed to love each other for being apart of the greatest university in the world, and where people are so down-to-earth and not judgemental (Auburn, Alabama is the complete opposite of where I live-and I couldn't wait to get out of there and arrive at AU). AU is far more than just greek life, there are plenty of other great clubs/programs to be apart of-Tiger Tuesdays and Auburn IMPACT to name a few (I'm looking into these as well, in addition to my pledging a fraternity). AU is such a great place!

We were told at CWE that if you had 3 pref parties and maximized your options at the end, you would get a bid on Bid Day but not necessarily your first choice.
