and another vote for You Oughta Know... esp. paired with Your House (the hidden bonus track on the CD that I found totally by accident)

My all time favorite "Let's Just Kiss and Say Goodbye". I think it's by the Temptations.

As usual, my mind reverts to the very early days of rock and roll, and two songs really jump out.

"I Can't Stop Lovin' You" by Ray Charles, and "Only Love Can Break a Heart," by Gene Pitney -- both from the sixties. There are tons of others from the same era.

By the way:

"Top gun classic---- You've lost that love and feeling"

Top gun classic? Give me a break. That song was huge in the mid sixties, probably before Tom Cruise was born, by the Righteous Brothers. Great song, though, along with their version of "Unchained Melody," and "Ebb Tide."

My Favorite Song in English is "Ciao" by Lush.
- I've been so happy since you went away,
I never thought that I
Could feel as good as I do today
Cause you were nothing
But a BIG mistake
And life is wonderful
Now that I'm rid of you!

In Spanish I have many! My two favorites are from Paulina Rubio (who just recorded her 1st English CD - she sings "Don't Say Goodbye")
1. El Ultimo Adios (The Last Goodbye) - This song pretty much tells the guy that it doesn't matter how much he cries, begs, pleads... It's over! This was the last goodbye!

2. Yo No Soy Esa Mujer (I'm Not That Woman) - This one pretty much talks about not being the woman that's going to stay home, put her life on hold, and not do anything because he doesn't want her to!

Actually, it's from the Manhattans (did I spell that right?). I know this one because I LOVE oldies (Especially from the Art Laboe Show and "Lowrider" oldies).

As a matter of fact, all the songs that have been posted here are good ones. Especially "Mr. Personality" (thanks kddani!) and "What It Takes" (thanks KarenC725). SigmaChiCard, I like "I Used to Love Her," I thought it was the funniest song when I first heard it (many years ago...), but I can't really dedicate that to a man

Anyway, I'm actually writing down the songs so that I can download them and creat a CD so keep posting them!

No Shame,
Thanks for the correction. I don't know why I have the temptations on my mind. It's my favorite breakup song.

OKAY......I NEED ANGRY BREAKUP SONGS!!!! B/c I just got my heart broken again by my boyfriend/friend of 3 1/2 years. So, let's get me past crying and move on to slashing his tires. Okay, maybe not slashing tires.....but just not crying anymore.

"Look Away" by Chicago (after my breakup it took YEARS before I could hear that song)...it is still hard to hear it to this day

"Where do broken hearts go" by Whitney Houston

RUNNING BACK TO YOU - Vanessa Williams
======================================

Break!

Boy, you've been runnin' 'round too long
And I think you're runnin' outta time
No more jumpin'i n and outta my bed
It's time for me to draw the line

(So you think that) you can call me the only one
Then walk out the door
(And you think that) you can run around havin' fun
And just come back for more
(I think that) you're livin' in a fantasy
Gotta be them or me
And if you try it one more time
Baby don't expect me to come runnin' back

(CHORUS
(Running back to you)
Then you'll think about love, all the good love I gave to you
I won't come runnin' (running back to you)
And I'll find someone, somebody else to give it to

Oh oh (oh oh, oh oh oh oh)
I won't come runnin' back (oh oh)
I won't come runnin' (oh oh oh)

Oh boy, hope you see before too late
I won't play the fool, no, not this time
And I'll show you just how wrong you are
To think I just can't get you outta my mind

(So you think that) you can just play me off
Then walk out the door
(Oh, you think that) you can just run around
And come back for more
(I think that) you're livin' in a fantasy
Gotta be them or me
And if you dis me once more
Baby don't expect me to run, runnin' back

(CHORUS)

Oh oh (oh oh, oh oh oh oh)
I won't come runnin' back (oh oh)
I won't come runnin' (oh oh oh oh)
Oh oh (oh oh, oh oh oh oh)
I won't come runnin' back (oh oh)
I won't come runnin' (oh oh oh)

You can't just dis me when you wanna
Or come and go when you wanna
I hear you're playing around when you wanna
Anytime that you wanna (oh wow oh)
Or just tell me lies when you wanna
I got more than you wanna
Ah, and by the way (this one's for you)

Wow oh (oh oh oh oh)

(CHORUS)

(Oh oh) oh (oh oh) oh no (running, oh oh oh)
I won't come runnin' back (running, oh oh)
I won't come runnin' (oh oh oh)
Ooh no (running, oh oh) oh no (running, oh oh oh)
I won't come runnin' back (running, oh oh)
I won't come runnin' (oh oh oh)

fun ex songs !

hahaha this thread reminds me of a song i heard on one of my sister's cds.. i can't remember the name of it, or who sang it, but it's a cute sheryl-crow-like singer singing about how her ex broke up with her for an ugly girl... hehehe

it's really funny about how she's making fun of the guy and his new ugly girl.. hehehe fun stuff.. i'm gonna have to ask her who sings it..

ETA: I found the artist for those of you interested.. the name is Fleming and John and song's name is (surprise, surprise) Ugly Girl... hehehe. it's a fun song for those of you who like to make fun of your exs:

"Do you have to keep your eyes closed
do you have to keep the lights down low
oh I bet you wish you had a blindfold
can't you see
you're leaving me
for an ugly girl"

ETA: "Fighter" -- Christina Aguilera is good for those crappy breakups

edited yet again: Justin Timberlake does a really good cover of "One Last Cry"...

J. Lo "Ain't it Funny" the Remix:

Hope you realize that now I'm through
And I don't ever wanna hear from you
I had enough of being there for you
So now I'm laughing while you play the fool

Also "Survivor" by Destiny's Child:

Now that you're out of my life, I'm so much better
Thought that I'd be weak without you but I'm stronger...
