Maybe we should do a thread on best new relationships songs? I just made one in my itunes. :-)

There's no thread on "best new relationship songs" because "Good Weekend" by Art Brut is far and away the champion in that category, rendering the thread worthless.

Julie Roberts ... Break Down Here (just a lil depressing)
Mile marker 203
The gas gauge leanin on the edge of E
I'll be danged if the rain ain't pourin down
Somethin smokin underneath the hood
It's a-bangin and a-clangin and it can't be good
It's another 50 miles to the nearest town
Everything I own is in the back in a Hefty bag
I'm outta cigarettes and I'm down to my last rag
[Chorus:]
I'd sure hate to break down here
Nothin up ahead or in the rear-view mirror
Out in the middle of nowhere knowin
I'm in trouble if these wheels stop rollin
God help me keep me movin somehow
Don't let me start wishin I was with now
I've made it this far without cryin a single tear
I'd sure hate to break down here
Under fifty-thousand miles ago
Before the bad blood and busted radio
You said I was all you'd ever need
Love is blind and little did I know
That you were just another dead-end road
They were pretty lies and broken dreams
Baby leavin you is easier than bein gone
I don't know what I'll do if one more thing goes wrong
[Repeat Chorus Twice]
It's to late to turn around
I'd sure hate to break down here
Mile marker 215

I can't believe that no one has mentioned this song. It's an oldie by the Platters:
"They asked me how I knew
My true love was true
Oh, I of course replied
Something here inside cannot be denied
They said someday you'll find
All who love are blind
Oh, when your heart's on fire
You must realize
Smoke gets in your eyes
So I chaffed them and I gaily laughed
To think they could doubt my love
Yet today my love has flown away
I am without my love
Now laughing friends deride
Tears I can not hide
Oh, so I smile and say
When a lovely flame dies
Smoke gets in your eyes
Smoke gets in your eyes "
And once I'm done being sad, or if I skip straight to angry: Cheating by Jettingham, but only the last verse because that's what you feel like doing after a cheating bastard breaks up with you on Valentines Day.
"I said I wasn’t cheating then I began repeating
The abundance of redundance flooded her head
And she said “If I’m leaving with a broken heart
You’re leaving with a bleeding nose.”
This is the last time you’ll see me
Check your mood ring ‘cause I’ll bet it’s green
Check our cash flow and I’ll bet it’s low
Check your sex toys, check your playboys
Check all your things yeah
I bet they’re destroyed
Cause I’m a jackass."

Not sure if these are on here already but
What Might've Been-- forgot who sings it
Best I Ever Had- Vertical Horizon
Take a look at me now- Phil Collins
Skin- Alexz Johnson (yes Instant Star)
Hello Lonely- Theory of a Deadman
Over and Over- Nelly and Tim McGraw
All Cried Out- Allure
And if you're from Southeastern Michigan you may know of a band called Rusty Lunchbox... pretty much their whole first CD is a breakup CD. It got me through LOTS of hard times. (not to mention that the lead singer is on his way to LA right now for his 2nd audition to become Fuel's new lead singer... it's down to 12 or 14 people right now!)
eta: here are part of lyrics from one of their songs
cuz all my life i
thought i found
the one true thing
that won't let me down
you set me up
just to knock me down
and i can't change
the way i feel
now-

I've always been known for my breakup mixes. I'm not sure if this is a good or bad thing.. Anyway, here was some of the playlist of the last CD I made:
"Song for the Dumped" and "Selfless, Cold, and Composed" by Ben Folds Five
"You're Having the Time of My Life" by Jets to Brazil
"Why Did You Mess With Forever?" by John Mayer (Live recording.)
"Better Off Without You" by The Clarks
"#41" by DMB
"Perfect" by the Smashing Pumpkins (Really only good if the breakup was for outside reasons..)
"Hound Dog" by Big Mama Thorton (Not the Elvis Presley version. She's angry and it's great)
"Bleeding Me Dry" by Bain Mattox
"Queensboro Bridge" by David Mead
"23" by JEW
"Lover's Greed" by Jump, Little Children
"She Paints Me Blue" by Something Corporate ("I can't lie/that I've relied on you/Like yellow does on blue")
"Motorcycle Drive By" by Third Eye Blind
"Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" by U2
"Two Points for Honesty" by Guster

"Sorry" by buckcherry. It's not the official video (which sucks by the way). But it is one hell of a lot better.
