I have the Kindle with built in 3G and I love it. I got it in June and I can borrow from libraries. I can also borrow from other kindle users. I tend to do a lot of research with electronics too and I decided the Kindle because it's not an lcd screen (don't want to stare at that all day) and because it's lighter, making it easier to read while using public transportation.

Well, for some reason the BB/Droid charger doesn't work. Oh well, just hope the car charger does so I don't have to buy another one.

That's weird, they should work. The connection might be bad. If it doesn't charge at all, I'd call BN. Didn't it come with a charger as well? I will say when I need replacement chargers I find the Nook one to be the cheapest of the detachable USB chargers to buy for my phone or otherwise.

I ended up buying a Kindle at the end of May. I didn't know they actually got the library borrowing up and running yet, but I had heard that it was coming later this year.

I did get a Nook charger but I wanted to see if the BB worked so I would have an extra. It didn't. Also (bummer) the car charger didn't either so I need to get one before Friday.

Oh well.

Older BB charger? The new ones are all microUSBs I think, so maybe it's the last of the old gen of chargers.

Alas. If there's a USB connection, then you can jury-rig it. But yeah buying a Nook charger is at least cheap and they're pretty reliable. I wouldn't think you'd need a car charger. Nooks last a LONG time, even a long car ride.

That said if your Nook charger breaks, they'll replace it within a certain period of time too. Mine just kind of shot out and they mailed me a replacement no questions asked. I bought a spare since it's useful for my phone and now have 3 chargers (And two spare plugins since I lost a cord too.)

Have any of you with a Nook Color been regular downloaders from your library? I'm thinking about getting one but would want to get most of the books from the library, like I do now with real books.

To be honest, I really haven't had time to use it much. I have some "real" books that I need before they are due back at the library.

But..I have downloaded some to read this weekend away from home so I don't have to lug the hardbacks.
