Panhellenic alumni in Miami, Fl help!

Hey girls! I know, I know- another thread on recs. This fall I will be rushing at UF as a sophomore so you know recs are an absolute must! The only problem is that I've asked countless number of people for connections and such, but it seems as if Miami isn't too greek oriented. I've also tried googling local panhellenic groups but the link I got for a Miami one hasn't been updated in nearly a year. I have also tried individual sororities, but most of their websites wont let me access their alumni group locations or even an email unless I already have a log in with their sorority.

Help! This is really, really important to me.

Hi gator 2892 - Did you try contacting the Miami APH (even though the website hasn't been updated in a while)? Maybe search for a Facebook Page for the group, and there might be an e-mail address there? Same thing for individual Alumnae chapters - do a google search and facebook search for additional info is my best advice.

Here's the deal (and this is not really directed at you - more of a PSA for others reading) - sorority members on GC could give a recommendation, but its not really worth a whole lot because we don't actually know you. We can't speak to certain things that are asked in the recommendation forms, because unfortunately all we know about you is that you just came on greek chat and that you don't have all your recommendations. Each chapter at UF will get that same information through recruitment applications that any GCer would have if you gave us a resume. So it is kind of is a waste of paper and time to have someone that doesn't know you write a recommendation.

If you are rushing as a sophomore (and it is not against Panhellenic rules - you would have to check that out), could you talk to your friends at UF about where they found their references? Do you have friends from high school that pledged as freshmen and they could give you suggestions of where to go from your hometown for recommendations? Could you talk to your former HS counselor to see if they have any contacts? Those are just some questions to help you think through who you could ask. Otherwise, be sure to look at all those other threads that are up on Greek Chat. They have lots of good information!

Good Luck!
