Timeshare Ownership

Do any of you own a Timeshare? My husband and I are talking about purchasing a timeshare for our annual family vacations. There are a whole bunch of timeshare options these days and, really, you can buy a timeshare for under $1500, plus annual maintenance costs. There are also options for timeshare "vacation clubs" where your ownership entitles you to be able to use other properties.

I'm thinking about a timeshare on Martha's Vineyard. I would like that as our annual vacation spot in July. Being all the way out here on the West coast, I would really like to get my family away from here every year...and the vineyard is a great spot.

So, I'm wondering if any of you own timeshares, and if so, do you feel that they are worth the money? Other locations? Anyone use any "vacation club" timeshare options?

Talking

My mother owns one, and she loves it. It is what they call a "floating" time share, where she can use her timeshare benefits at several different locations across the world at hotels that are affiliated with it. That way you are not stuck with having to go the same place all the time, and still enjoy the benefits of a timeshare. I plan on using it to go to Atlantic City this August
