Cool Anyone from Atlanta??

I'm planning a college tour of colleges in Atlanta. I've never been to Georgia. Can anyone tell me the distance (time) between Spelman and Emory and Georgia Tech. I'm aware Spelman and Morehouse are very close to each other.

Thanks for your help.

Any other activites we shouldn't miss??

Most of the colleges (except the AUC) are between 10-15 minutes away from each other (NOT counting traffic). Traffic is a whole 'nother story, and you just might develop a severe case of road rage if you don't have one already.

If you are very unfamiliar with Atlanta, all you need to do is head downtown. There are many things within walking distance such as Piedmont Park, Centennial Park, Underground Atlanta, and just a whole bunch of other stuff. If it is not within walking distance, you can take the MARTA (the transit authority) from Underground (there are stations all over ATL), and it will take you pretty much anywhere. It is $0.75 per ride. All the things I have mentioned are free. As far as nightlife, just listen to JD's Welcome to Atlanta, lol, he pretty much has everything covered. I would recommend the Shark Bar (pricey as heck, but can't beat the atmosphere). It is also downtown. Also while you are exploring downtown, you may notice that there is a University slap in the middle. It is GA State. If you are driving, the only roads you need to know are 75/85, and Interstate 20. They will take you EVERYWHERE.

Hope this is somewhat helpful.

Well librasoul said everything

I attend the school that's right smack in the middle of downtown Georgia State University. Heck, we ARE downtown! But most of the campus buidings are clustered together near Grady Memorial Hospital.

The distance...well from the AUC to Emory, they are not extremely far from each other but the traffic is what'll kill you...but if you plan you can get around it. GA Tech is actually closer to GSU.

What kind of tour is it? Maybe we'd like to have it here at GSU.

Spelman, Morehouse, Clark-Atlanta and Morris Brown are all within walking distance of each other (I sure did it enough!). Ga Tech is probably 15- 20 minutes away, GA State another 10 from Tech and Emory is probably 15 - 20 minutes from GA State. Atlanta is also the home of Mercer University, Agnes Scott Olgethrope University, oh yeah and GA Perimeter College ( 2 year school).

Other things to do....
The King Center of course--an ATL must do
The Hammond house it is a really masion that was built by the former slave that founded Atlanta Life Insurance Company and is next to Morris Brown College.
Stone Mountain--they've added a lot of new attractions this year and most people try to stay for the laser show. I have never, however, been able to get with the fact that they play "Dixie" at the end of it
The National Black Arts Festival is now an annual event in Atlanta and brings many cultural things to the city like plays, art exibits (including stuff for sale), poetry readings, etc. I think it starts in July. I'll find out for sure and let you know.

Check out the DeltaNET on delphiforums.com. Since the Delta convention will be in Atlanta this summer there are a lot of suggestions on things to do there (especially resturants.)

Hope you have fun!
