Transfer Essay
Its that time for me to begin my early acceptance applications. I have to write an essay about an inspirational and / or motivational person, event, occurance in my life that has affected my character. I have an event in mind and Ive read tips on the internet on the internet but I wanted to get your ideas. I want it to sound genuine and not generic.

I don't think ANYone can help you write a genuine essay about something inspirational that happened to YOU! :/ College essays suck. I don't know where in the country you are, but it's pretty late everywhere, and it's not something I would try to tackle this late. I wrote all of mine by hand in a notebook on a beautiful day in my favorite park. Start fresh in the morning when your mind is clear. That's the only advice I have.

I should re-phrase. For early admission and scholarship application. I have at least a few months. I was just going to see what made it easier for others. Thanks thetaj! I have to hand write everything from notes to essays before I type them

I am an outliner.... I love to have a complete and thorough outline before I write anything.
However, don't be afraid to write down things as you think of them. For example, if you already have a great anecdote, feel free to write it down first and them work out the introduction, conclusion, and other stuff later.

It depends on the nature of the story. Just write it all down and have somebody proofread it that can tell you if it's too personal.

That's good advice. Also, would you tell someone the story on a first date or at a cocktail party? If not, it may not be the best way to represent you as you apply for college.

This, except I'd relate it to a job interview. Be personal and professional.
