Asked a service fraternity or sorority for help?

Does anyone have experiences with a Social Fraternity or Social Sorority that asked Alpha Phi Omega, Gamma Sigma Sigma, Omega Phi Alpha (or similar group) for help in organizing a community service project? I'm interested in how well or poorly it went.

Why would they need to unless it's an org that's just starting out? Although not service organizations, many organizations already have a great deal of experience organizing service projects.

Our APO chapter actually worked with Alpha Sigma Tau on the annual Bloodmobile. If I remember correctly, we kind of directed traffic, helped people sign in etc and the ASTs did the refreshments. It always went really well, especially since our APO chapter was not huge. How it got started I don't know - it was in place and had been for a few years when I got there.

There's a difference, though, in asking another org to participate with you and asking another org to help organize the project, which is what naraht seems to be asking about. ('Course, maybe at the outset, APO did help organize this project.)

Naraht, can you please explain if you mean "participate" or "organize" (or just advice on how to do it)? Perhaps you mean both.

I avoided this thread because my initial thought was the same as rhoyaltempest.

Cosponsor is another word which comes to mind that most of my students would use rather than organize or participate.

Thank you MysticCat, I should have asked for projects that were co-sponsored, I didn't intend to limit it to only those where help is asked for from the service greek (well, I guess I did, I blame the donuts). I'll start another thread with what should have been the question.

Close thread?
