T-Shirts

Alpha Phi Omega, to my knowledge, does not have protocol regulating how we are to wear our lettered paraphernalia.

Personally, I prefer para that is blue and gold, or at most blue and gold on a black or white background. However, I have seen shirts that were purple, green, pink, plaid, etc.

What do you all feel about APO gear that is not blue and gold? Does your chapter have such traditions? If so, why?

Thumbs up Our Colors

I think that our Founders put a lot of thought into our fraternity's colors AND the meaning behind them. Because of this, I would NEVER buy any fraternity para that isn't blue and gold. BUT that's just me! Everyone has the right to wear what ever they want.

My chapter has the tradition of having family tree color, so our gatherings are quite colorful. One tree has black and white, another purple and white, and another green with plaid (YUCK!). But most people wear the navy and gold letters that they sell on the national website and at apocollection.com.

I get all my letters from www.adgreek.com . It's a great site and they actually have ROYAL!

That's just my $19.25

I have no problems with multi-colored para.

no!

If it ain't Blue and Gold...you won't catch me in it. There is a REASON why our colors are Royal Blue and Old Glory gold. All those other colors are for the birds. I doubt you'll find this among HBCU chapters (not saying we're better than anybody else)

Re: no!

I don't think that such differences necessarily have anything to do with whether a chapter is an HBCU or not. I might have thought that a few months ago, but then I met Brothers from Kappa Psi who had various colored letters.

It's all about bringing chapter differences to the table. . .the mother of a girl in my chapter makes para, and since her nickname is "Queen of Hearts", her mom made her a pink t-shirt with the letters in white with red hearts. . .it wasn't my cup of tea, but it had meaning for her.

The lady also made her daughter some letters in the school colors. I actually don't think it's a bad idea to have fraternity shirts in your school colors, but I think that's best at convention when you're trying to make a statement about your chapter.

Once again....I state "If it ain't Blue and Gold...you won't catch me in it. There is a REASON why our colors are Royal Blue and Old Glory gold. All those other colors are for the birds. I doubt you'll find this among HBCU chapters (not saying we're better than anybody else)" Kappa Psi, eventhough it's an HBCU chapter, they are on a different level.

Angry NO

If I can put in my $.52-

I agree with Brother T. There's a reason why I proudly wear Maroon and White on ALL my peri...those are the sorority colors, HELLO!

I went to a conference once in my district...I was sick at all the colors that I saw-red, blue, baby blue, orange, green, pink. I even saw one sister wearing a loud yellow shirt with the letters cut out in KOOL-AID MAN fabric with red trim I was through!! Another sister I met from Clemson, she had the letters done in the school colors with tiger paws on it. *sigh*

I usually wear my letters on Maroon, White, or Black t-shirts or jackets. I am working on my next jacket and that will be black. I finally found a place that carries my Coat of Arms, so I'm excited about ordering it. Also Virtuous Woman, I checked out the Adgreek site you posted-saw quite a few nice things on there.

I have ordered nice peri from here: www.thegreekshop.com check this one out.
