How did you first learn about Beta Sigma Phi?
I know that we discussed this a long time ago, but since we have new people on the board, I thought I would ask again. How did you first learn about BSP?
I was doing research while trying to establish a little non-profit organization. I decided to look at Greek orgs for examples of organizational structures. A simple internet search brought up GC. Just by poking around the boards, I found Beta Sigma Phi. I was so excited to find a community-based sorority because I thought I had missed my opportunity to have a sorority experience. Also, I was newly married, newly relocated hundreds of miles from friends and family, and working hard in my first year of graduate school. I thought I had found something to help me connect with other women and my new community. I was right!

I learned about Beta Sigma Phi from greekchat.com!
I had seen Beta Sigma Phi and the letters for it in a few people signatures way back in 2003 but thought it was a local sorority. Then I realized it had it's own forum here. When I searched it out online I discovered it was an international organization, looked into joining, and did so in Fall 2004!

Oddly, I was not searching for societies at all, but was Googling for an address for a "beta" testing group related to some software I was interested in. Beta Sigma Phi came up in the results list.
Already being in some other societies (non-GLO) gave me enough curiosity to follow the BSP link and check it out.

I was googling community organizations and local sororities trying to find a group to join where I could grow my circle of friends. Something in my phrasing caught a GC thread (it was one of the local/up and coming/service organization thread that listed a lot of different organizations) and actually sent feelers out to a few different orgs. Beta Sigma Phi is the one that resonated with me the most!

I will be pursuing membership in BSP in 2011 when I will be free of some other responsibilities that take up my time. Right now I'm just "peeping in the window" of that home.

Oh yes...I remember now. I keep forgetting who is who!
By the way, does your screen-name indicate that you like sewing?

I actually found BSP via GC as well. Ironically, I remember that a woman I met a long time ago in Texas was a sister - I didn't remember the name of the sorority, but I did recall that it was highly friendship-focused, and the symbol was a yellow rose. After I joined my collegiate sorority (Alpha Chi Omega) and my professional fraternity (Alpha Kappa Psi), I started researching more about GLOs in general. I came upon a few community-based sororities, including Delta Psi Sigma, which is a rather small community sorority based in New York and Boston. I thought it would be cool to join a community sorority so that I could stay fuly active in Greek life long after I was finished with college, and BSP seemed to align best with my ideals. I haven't regretted my choice!

Yes, I do a lot of sewing and crafting. I have a combo machine that sews and also does machine embroidery. Maybe I can make some neat things for my BSP chapter someday!

Definitely. I love crafting, too! I've made some little things for my chapter sisters.
