SoCal Pi Phis?

I have tried to contact my local alumnae panhellenic (LA) to no avail, so I've decided to try contacted each chapter individually. I've managed to find an alumnae chapter for every organization EXCEPT pi phi.

Can anyone help me out by directing me to one of their websites (LA, or immediate surrounding areas). Thank you in advance to anyone who can help!

I would email the Pi Phi chapter (recruitment chair?) to ask about alumnae chapters. As an alum of USC and UCLA (yes, a mixed marriage so to speak) I am not aware of any alumnae chapters of any sorority in the west Los Angeles area. The other areas to look into are those in the Pasadena/LaCanada Flintridge and possibly Orange county.

Oh, I totally forgot to add the San Fernando valley as a possible place for an alumnae chapter! I know that DG has one there because they did a fundraiser. So, there might be a Pi Phi group there.

thanks i didn't even think to contact the actual sorority haha.

And yeah, most of the chapters i found were in the sfv, glendale, burbank, etc. I just categorize all of that as LA cuz i'm lazy lol

Please, please try this group before you contact any sorority's alumnae chapters directly. Let them know that you tried to contact the LA APH and have not had a response.

As has been stated, alumnae chapters can vary GREATLY from group to group and chapter to chapter, and the last thing you want to do is lobby a group for recs who for one reason or the other does not concern themselves with that.

When my daughter went through recruitment last year we contacted the above group early enough to be timely. We didn't year anything for two months. I then received a lovely email assuring me that recs had been taken care of for the Reluctant One. Frankly, nothing was sent to any organization. So be aware that whatever we did (sent in resume with pictures and a very nice cover letter and thank you (from the Reluctant One) wasn't enough to spur any action.

33girl, i have also contacted them, after the original one didn't answer twice. Still no answer :/

I feel like Southern California is not big on Sorority Recruitment like other places (namely the South), so they don't expect many people to contact them for recs. Not sure if this is the case, but it's certainly what it seems like.

Unfortunately, I e-mailed the individual chapters before I read your warning. But I worded it very politely and said something along the lines of "I'm sorry if you are not the person to contact, please redirect me if you're not," so I don't think they'll get angry.

Hopefully they can help, if not, well I've tried! haha

woahwoah,
Perhaps that particular alumnae chapter may not be the correct one to contact. However, at the Univ. of Southern California references are essential for every chapter, in my opinion.

Have you tried teachers, church/synagogue members, friends of your parents, club advisors who are members of any NPC group? They may not be Pi Phis, but may have friends who are Pi Phis.

Just FYI, Gamma Phi Beta has several alumnae chapters in the LA-area. I'm sure Pi Phi does too.

I think that the OP should look in specific areas like Pasadena, LaCanada/Flintridge as opposed to "Los Angeles" in general. Certain areas won't have that many sorority alums of certain groups.

I do recall that last year Panhellenic in San Diego had some sort of event. You might try contacting them.
