I think I made a "why oh why" thread here when they remade the Halloween movies. Robert Englund made the character, so it's going to be interesting to see how this new guy does. Also, this is being called a re-imagining and not a remake of the series.

None of the Elm Street movies scared me, but I'll probably just see it anyway if nothing else good is playing. Jason has always scared me though.

The first was and will always be the best. Everything else (Halloween & Jason included) SUCKS!

I meant, Jason being the first of the slasher icons. Just realized that Myers was first, in the 70s.

Interesting story about the new "Freddy".
Jackie Earle Haley, who some of you may remember as Kelly from the "Bad News Bears", is playing Freddy.
When Jackie was younger, he auditioned for a role in the original "Nightmare on Elm Street." He took his roommate at the time for company. The director, Wes Craven, noticed Jackie's roommate and asked him to read. The roommate ended up getting a role in the film, and the Jackie did not.
The roommate was Johnny Depp.
I guess this role is full circle for Jackie. (You can currently see him on the tv show "Human Target".)
